Lyrics:
The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
Is guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newbury's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain
So baby, let's sell your diamond ring
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you cry all day
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
Four car garage and we're still building on
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newberry's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Willie and Waylon and the boys
This successful life we're livin's got us feudin'
Like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs
And Jerry Jeff's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas there ain't nobody feelin' no pain

I saw Willie Nelson in concert one time at a fair and literally sat there with a dumb grin on my face the whole time. It was magic! Angel flying too close to the ground was wonderful! Hearing him sing. On the Road again made it seem as if all was right with the world! Good times!

love this song! Reminds me of my ex-boyfriend... went together for a year & broke up but we still cared for each other. His sister was my best friend, so we stayed in contact til she passed away in 2011 but i'd still call him & kept up with the family. We stayed close & one day he came by the place where i worked & wanted me to jump on his bike with him & head to Luckenbach which was 2 1/2 hrs away.. if i hadnt been married i woulda... we lost him 2 years ago.. I miss him & think of him every time i hear this song.

Legends is a understatement, to say the least. This WAS country music.

This chapter in the history of country music is closed. It can never be rewritten, recreated. resurrected or perfected the way it was here. But at least we have this record to remind future generations of artists what inspiration is and how the whole can be made greater than the sum of its parts, even when the parts are Johnny Cash, willie Nelson, waylon Jennings and kris kristofferson.

That steel guitar solo is one of the best I ever heard... the guy is a genius. So simple, yet so on point. I guess Waylon only played with the best, no wonder why these musicians are nailing it. Waylon was like Pat Metheny of country music.

Willie Nelson last man standing. Imagine that! RIP Kris Kristofferson. One of the best songwriters of all-time. Willie said something akin to Kris must have lived a thousand other lives in a thousand other places to be able to write so many great songs. I'll second that ❤

When I moved to Texas in 1976 I was only 5 years old. I remember hearing this when it came out in 1977. I WAS MY FAVORITE SONG AT THAT TIME! I still enjoy it today though... I have been to Luckenbach TX it's very small not much of city.
