Very good question. A year ago $500 could last me several hours. Nowadays it takes thousands almost unless you get super lucky. I feel like for each denomination you need $500 minimum. Like $1 denom- $500 bank roll. $5 denom- $1000. $10 denom $1500. Of course odds and wins vary. Sometimes I can get super lucky right away and others I could of had a stack of cash and won nothing. Only thing I hate about those red screen games is the annoying bells after getting a win. If I could, I would turn that off or at least turn down the volume.
