Hi Doug. Just started watching your video. Like how Fred went to join his mates. Love Rosie. I too got a dog from a compound, she was a long haired alsatian (GSD). She was no more than three months old, and what drew me to her was her tail. It looked like a length of tatty string. We had her until she was 13 years old when she suffered a stroke and had to be put down. It was the first time my hubby cried in our 40 years of marriage. What made me laugh when we would take her out for her run and play, we have a field at the back where I live and the grass would grow to about waist high, and she would hop like a kangaroo to see where we'd thrown her toy. Lovely dog

We got down to 18 degrees here in NW Florida with 6" of snow on the ground. Problem is that we don't have anything with salt or sand, so in that case ALL bridges are closed to traffic due to icy conditions. It was that way for 2 days and I-10 from mile 1 to 70 was closed as well. I still have some snow on the ground around my home now. Although I don't think it will stay since the outside temperature is pushing 52 degrees at 2300.

Overall was it a better move for you monetarily to be a owner operator vs. a company driver? I know the big advantage I had more freedom when and where I went. But in later years I went back to company driving mostly because of the crazy cost of equipment and maintenance. And company benefits. 😊 You do a great job.
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407Күн бұрын
Money wasn’t my main consideration for buying the truck. As you mentioned there are other benefits. The money works out to about the same as a company driver while making truck payments. If you can ever get your equipment paid off and only worry about maintenance then you are further ahead. And for people who say maintenance on an old truck works out similar to payments on a new one haven’t been truck shopping lately. They want $7000 per month for a new truck. I can do a lot of maintenance for $7000 per month!
@gmj208Күн бұрын
I totally agree with that assessment. But the older people get the more they get enough of the tight rope act of being an owner operator. It didn't hit me until I got into my 60's. So luckily you have many more years of the free life...

@luckybananaheavyhaul3407Күн бұрын
It will be interesting to see if Canadian companies still find it worth it to sell across the border with the tariffs. As much as the US would like to be 100% independent they would need to increase their manufacturing capacity to supply their entire demand. This isn’t impossible but it doesn’t just happen over night either.

I was already in trucking and just wanted more challenge! Get yourself some flatbed experience and then just start applying! You will be easier accepted if you find a company who does small oversize so you can get some experience before playing with the big toys!

@luckybananaheavyhaul3407Күн бұрын
It will effect us for sure but there will still be work. Even if the USA wanted to be 100% self sufficient the industry is not ready for that. And it will take years to change. Manufacturers will be back logged and they will be forced to pay the tariffs while they compensate for lag in production. The extra manufacturing facilities won’t be built over night
