4:10 that was clever! So much easier to line up than struggling with the loader for half an hour. You can tell the yard crew has done that a time or two and they're good at it. :) On this job you didn't drive the load on the trailer, but generally you get to run all the coolest toys with the loadouts! Although I'll be the first to admit that I'd be scared shitless of putting the first dent into $2m+ equipment! It doesn't help that with big toys even small dents are appropriately huge dents.

Whats the specs on your truck? What's the minimum specs you would recommend for hauling similar loads? I've got a 1998 international 9800 flat floor double bunk with a 500hp/1500tq M11 and a eaton fuller 7 speed (I drive like a heavy spec'd 5LL) 9.34 1st, 5.35 2nd and a 0.75 7th. Have 3.90 rears on airbags and am running a 43 inch 12R22.5 tire. It does 66 @ 1500rpm. You can get the specs of this truck from the first video I posted with it (174 feet from Texas) 😉 I’m not sure how the low gear in your 7 speed compares to low gear in the 18 speed. Ok so do equipment manufacturers design their products to be hauled or do the trailer companies design their trailers to haul the manufacturers equipment?

@Michael-uv1nn....because, normally, self-propelled road-worthy trucks are being transported (driven) to dealers or end-users through, what's known as, Drive-Away companies. In the past 19 years, I've delivered - on a part-time basis - about 370,000 miles worth of trucks, busses, tractor-trailers, concrete pumpers, cement-mixers, refuse trucks, mobile-cranes (with and without boom-dollies) all across the continent.

lol there is a lot of information on permits which can not be all memorized. And no I don’t stop every time I need to reference a permit. Thanks for your comment but there are much greater distractions you need to worry about.

Hey if you’d clean that windshield we’d be able to see a little better. Road grim and dirt smears. Also, who’s measuring the heights on these loads? I might help newbees seeing how you’ve obtained the height… Dallas, Tx

Who measures the height of the actual load of who determines the permit height? The driver is always 100% responsible to know the height of his load
@HughByrom
@HughByrom 4 күн бұрын
I’ve not see you with a measuring pole is why I ask. I’m a HAZMAT fuel hauler in TEXAS and don’t need to concern myself with such, only routes, weight & placarding

@HughByrom I don’t mind the questions. If you don’t ask you don’t know! But yes the driver is 100% responsible to know his/her height, width and length as well as axle weights. All are precisely stated on our permits and used to determine our routes to avoid low bridges etc…
