There's something magical about this tune and the way he sings it. I was born in 1973 and in 2019 I'm listening to this 1959 tune for the whole day without getting tired. Awesome, bro

I am completely in tears because He sung it not with new twists and "modern tweeks", but he sung it the way he did in 1959 and that's why I am crying. I am back in 1959 and I am 7 years old again.

Frankie and Annette were such a beautiful couple in the beach movies they made together in the early and mid 1960's.It's nice to know Frankie and Annette never had a fight they had minor crushes on each other and stayed good friends Frankie attended Annette funeral he loved her!.Good news is still in 2016 Frankie Avalon still does concerts!.

This song was my favorite song as a kid because of its simple message and beautiful lyrics. Now at 69 it is still in my top 10. Music of the 50's, 60's and 70's is still the best ever. Today's music has no lyrics or melodies.

On this day in 1959 {March 14th} Frankie Avalon performed "Venus" on the ABC-TV program 'Dick Clark's Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show'... Exactly one month earlier on February 9th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on March 9th it peaked at #1 {for 5 weeks} and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100... And on the same 'Beech-Nut' show the Fleetwoods performed "Come Softly To Me"; it was that song that knocked "Venus" out of the #1 spot on April 13th, 1959... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...

Since I am from the South Jersey, Philly area, this was a special record for me. At the beginning of 1959, while standing around the Melrose dinner with my friends, Frankie came by and told us about this record that he was going to record. He sang a few bars of" Venus" and the rest is history. He was always a great entertainer and friendly person. When he is in the neighborhood he still stops by to say hello. Stay Well my Friend. I just saw Frankie Avalon perform with Fabian & Bobby Rydel this past weekend. It was an enjoyable & good two-hour show with his singing of Venus being the highlight for me as I'm sure it was for many others. Frankie's voice my be gone but he put his heart & soul into the song and the rest of his performance. A real pro who gave his best at age 76 and really seemed to enjoy performing for the audience. Oh, the memories it brought back hearing those hit songs of my teenage yrs of the late 50's & early 60's.
