That vibration from it running in eco mode is from your $1000+ front and rear engine mounts needing replacement. VCM muzzler and normal non-vcm mounts is a much better and cheaper route.

Don't get the resistor style ones. You'll have to change resistors throughout the year as the weather changes. The microprocessor style bypasses automatically adjust as needed to keep VCM turned off.

The thermostat is mechanical thing, so it is open or close based on the actual coolant temp, not the ECT sensor temp I think. I'm trying to understand why people or ads talk about overheating?

Smart to disable your VCM2 was most problematic since it would go 6,4,3 cylinders. I have the S-VCM on my daily, 2017 Ridgeline with VCM3 ( 6 to 3 cylinder) and regarding oil consumption no problem before disabled. However, my consensus is the Honda 6 speed auto + Dw1 with VCM would wear the Torque converter and/or degrade the ATF prematurely causing the tranmissions problems. This is because the torque converter needs to be unlocked so the clutch is slipped to smooth out the transition of VCM. The problems is there is no governor for VCM; its just active if temp and engine load criteria is met, then it will always try to activate even for a short period of time.

We bought the van at 115K miles and the tranny fluid was pretty nasty. I have drained and filled it twice now, so hopefully I don't run into any transmission issues.

How exactly does disabling VCM affect fuel economy? Considering how the VCM disablers work, it supplies a false data of the ect to the ECU, giving the impression that the engine is not warmed up. If the ECU thinks the car is not warmed up, it will not engage VCM. But does this not also mean that the ECU will not go into closed loop? Does this not also mean that the ECU will keep burning more fuel to try to get the engine to operating temperature? This means very poor fuel economy. Please shed more light on this. Thanks.

Not exactly sure, but my fuel economy improved after installing it. 28 mpg on highway at 75 to 80 mph and 20-24 in the city.

Don't get the resistor type. Major pain in the bet to be changing resistors based on weather. Get one with a microprocessor that will adjust as needed. I got mine here: www.svcmcontroller.com

Thanks for your reply and after driving my Honda Pilot for about 5-10 miles the check engine light went off and has not came back on, but I noticed that the s-vcm that I have and installed does not have the wire that connects to the battery. Is that something I should be worried about?

I would've connected the positive lead to a switched power source so power isn't running to that at all times

They are talking about overheating because if you ever overheat because of a thermostat or water pump failure, the disabler is going to mask the issue if it isn't smart enough to recognize an overheat situation. The S-VCM Controller is smart enough to recognize an overheat situation and will switch back to showing you the real coolant temperature on your dash temp gauge.

What's the difference between this S-VCM and the VCM Tuner? (The original tuner, not the VCM Tuner 2) Is there any difference between them?

I believe the original VCM tuner requires seasonal resistor changes. The S-VCM and Tuner 2 are fully automated using a microprocessor.

@LuckyVagabond Right on, yeah, I decided to go with the S-VCM and I ordered it last night with expedited shipping. It should be here tomorrow. It seemed like the best choice over everything else currently on the market. The only thing else that would be the same or better is the VCM Tuner 2, but it's been sold out since 2022 and is on back order. So, the S-VCM made the most sense. I'm excited to try it out! I've heard nothing but good things on all the forums and reviews.

I just installed my s-vcm and immediately I got a check engine light on my 2009 Honda Pilot. I have not drove it yet because I just installed it, but have anyone else experienced a check engine light?

I have not. Did you disconnect the battery when installing it? If not, try doing that. The seller has a great warranty, so I'm sure he'll replace it if it's a defective unit.

Also, what happens if the engine is overheating? Will it show on the dash if the temp isn't normal? This is all new and confusing to me lol

Yes, it will. Once the temp goes over a certain threshold, the microprocessor in the muzzler will revert to actual temperature.
