Great video - thanks for showing simple diagnostics with the 'relay click' & a couple options to aleviate the issue - all of the strange issues I have run into with my street car stuff has proven valuable diagnosing on the hotrods, so this is good stuff to video - thanks Lucore !

I see Volvo... but no Elkavolvo. But keep robbing parts of that other one, eventually it will be a prime candidate! 😆 Good stuff as always Austin, and this will actually help me out. A cousin just bought a 9 series for $1K, OD not working and half the glass missing. At least I can solve one end of his problems now!🤣

Thank you for the video, it was useful, I think may be having an issue with the switch button in my 940 but fixed with a little piece of paper into de relay pushing contact "forced" to the copper plates, didn't test yet but in a while we'll see!

At last the automatic rust proofing system works! = leaky engine.. A working fuelgauge on a 7-series Volvo, maybe when new? 9-series, sometimes that gauge works. As for that powerseat, didnt even know they had that fancy option 😲 Oh and the majority had M46 M47 or M90 gearboxes, proper manual ones 😉

Lol she's got a few pretty common issues but we still love her! Great daily driver even with all her little ... "quirks". Don't think any of these came with manuals in turbo in The States did they?

@@LucoreAuto No idea what options where available 'over there' but my 940 is truly a poor mans low pressure turbo version with 136hp. Central locking, powersteering and factory Green tint Windows, thats about tips! PS. Both me and the car is located in Sweden, about 30 mins from another famous but much smaller Swedish car manufacturer starting with a K 😉

@@thatdudeinorange5269 ah ha! Yeahhh unfortunately we Yanks didn't get the turbo stick shift versions, oddly our maple creamstick friends to the north got tons of them! It's a tempting swap though... however THIS particular car may be destined for a bit more rowdy future 😉

@@LucoreAuto my buddy has owned a ton of Volvos over the years. He had a 740 turbo that was a manual, had a button you pushed for 5th gear/OD on the shift knob. I don't know if the wagons got a turbo stick option. I owned an 88 740 turbo wagon back in 2016 and I really wish I never sold it. I love the redbricks. If I could find a decent one with working ac here in central Ohio I'd snag on it for sure. But I'm perfectly content with my ol GMT800 Sierra right now.

a friend has a mechanic that bypassed the overdrive solenoid on a 1986 Toyota van. So like you the mechanic says "the van is in overdrive all the time, yet it will not go into the overdrive gear and this is normal" Is there a way the overdrive is bypassed so that the overdrive is off all the time? I don't think so, but that is the way the van seems to behave, since it does not go into overdrive gear, and also when climbing a gentle hill, it doesn't do what it normally would do with the overdrive turned on, i.e. downshift as needed.

At least that Volvo probably doesn't have FoMoCo stamped on every conceivable part like the early 2000's. I swear they have more FoMoCo stampings than an actual Ford running on Focus suspensions and brakes.🤫 I especially appreciate the 2005 V50 heater motor location.

Lol interesting question I CAN not answer is... how many 2xx/7xx/9xx cars have already had the overdrive off bypassed? It's a very VERY common problem for something few people ever use

If you choose to do the Overdrive Bypass all you have to do is take the existing solenoid and cut a notch between the two ports remove the inner o-ring and reinstall! discard the wiring. See video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZCypHuLj9GaZ9E no need to buy the $30 part that'll take three weeks to show up.
