They still wear them in Italy. You can get one for much cheaper than in the US. I should have bought one when we lived there. The nice thing about real fur is that if you take good care of it, it will probably outlast you.

Ricky says that the mink coat was worth $3,500 dollars. My parents bought their first house in 1958 for $4k. That coat today would cost at least $50k if it costs the same as the cheapest house in a town where the only employment center just closed down.

I never had a real fur coat, but never wanted one. They make women look fat if they are not slender, and would make me feel too hot and sweaty. They and fur stoles were very popular with rich women during the 1950s and 1960s.Actresses back then used to wear them alot.
