Glad you kept the intro.......... It's a real gas😁 I think Lucy has the most incredible, incredible voice. I first seen her second video when she was 10 years old, even then you could tell she was something special. Over the years her voice has become golden! She is extremely special, and her sister, Martha has really developed her voice too. They have God given talent!

As a musician, what you are saying totally makes sense to me. Yes. I tend to think more of it as she's got incredible phrasing. Because she does have those really dramatic ones which are impressive and ambitious. But she's really doing it all the time just like all of my favorite singers. There can be so much subtlety in how much you lead the downbeat or how much you delay after it and then how much do you imply a slower pace and then speed up to catch up with the Rhythm or vice versa all of those things. And she's really damn good at it because of all that breath control.

Lucy Thomas doesn't copy songs, she improves them... I have never heard any singer with as much vocal dynamics as Lucy. Regardless where she starts on scale, she never runs out of breath, pitch or vibrato. She uses her entire singing and performing gifts and takes us to places that treats all our senses.

There are lots of good things to say about Lucy every time you listen to her. What is uncanny here Bob, is that two things I have stated elsewhere today that stand out and align exactly with your words here. One, that Lucy is an artist, singing is not a sport it’s an art form. You don’t need to deploy all sorts of vocal gymnastics to try and impress your audience, you just need to be exceptionally good at your art. Lucy ticks this box. 2. Equally, the simplicity of presentation leaves Lucy with nowhere to hide. That’s OK because she doesn’t need to hide, she needs to be front and centre because her talent deserves that.

I was ordering her next cd on pre order for 9-12-23 Saw this track which posted a few hours later the list also included A Whiter Shade Of Pale and Pie Jesu. I am specially looking forward to Pie Jesu a beutiful song and some else said that Martha sings it with her. I.m 72 almost 73 and Procul Harum and Simon and Garfunkel and Linda Rondstadt are the hard wired music of my youth Striesland Dion and Houston passed mr by. Hearing Lucy sing their songs makes me love the songs even if I still don't think the original artists were exceptional. When lucy sings them the songs are.

Bob, RE: Lucy's technique -- One reactor mentioned that she pulls notes sometimes. I've noticed that as-well-as she finishes the lyric and carries it a little further with her perfect pitch and vibrato. She also has very good diction which is why her presentation seems 'clean' like you mentioned. If you watch her mouth you can see her end a word with a quick, almost imperceptible close of her chin to complete it. So, although I'm not a coach either, I do know that her voice just seems to be smooth and connected. Don't know if this helps or not but that's my non-pro thoughts.

So many beautiful tones and sounds, ups and down, highs and lows, soft and strong, happy and sad, warm and chills - and that’s all in one Lucy breath………….. I’ve watched so very many female singers - nice songs and good tunes. But after listening Lucy I then realised most cannot really sing at all. While some others sing phenomenal renditions with unbelievable vocals, Lucy’s songs I repeat listen. Lucy deserves a permanent position on your wall of fame.

Just keep going, like you said, you're old; so, who cares? At this point it's better to be old and wake up above the dirt than the other option. And I'm older than you! Lucy made this song simple perfection. So talented and such a beautiful voice and the heart behind it. Thanks Bob!

Bob, sounds like what you said following Hallelujah. You had to say Lucy changed your mind and she just did it again. My comment about this one was her voice; no antics or extreme belting, just pure silk. Another reactor (along with me) also thought we heard a male voice at that one point. She did make it her own (as usual) and after the photo montage at one point she took a low note and jumped up an octave. It was perfect pitch; nice embellishment. And of course I agree with you, Bob, about her vibrato. Particularly when she's in a power section, that vibrato just shines. That's time for the water works for me.

Thank you for a great reaction to Lucy! What do we see and hear when we watch Lucy perform her songs? We are witnessing an exquisite living work of art creating a magnificent vocal work of art! That is part of the magic of Lucy Thomas. Please do "Above the Clouds," a duet by Lucy Thomas and her friend/collaborator Will Callan which was released about a month ago. It is Disney Prince & Princess Level magnificent! It's a new song by Chris Broom, creator of the musical "Rosie," in which Lucy will star next year at London's West End!

Pretty sure the lower tones were all Lucy's,she has the ability to sing in a low register that is such a contrast to her higher range,i believe she has grown more confident in the lower range as a number of people have mentioned how good it is!,Lucy is just magnificent!.

Yes Bob the odd discrete drums are used as in ‘Broken Dreams’ and more so in ‘Writing's On The Wall’, ‘Memory’, ‘Run’, ‘Fix You’, and ‘I Don't Want To Miss A Thing’ plus others. Nothing unusual with drums or backing vocals. It sounds like a male backing vocal on this. I have heard similar faint backing vocals on some other songs, plus also female or choir backing vocals like on ‘Hallelujah’. I’ve no idea who sings the backing vocals but they are usually very slight and inconspicuous. Possibly Lucy herself does the backing vocals and are mixed in, or even Martha or Louise who knows. ‘There You'll Be’, has a second of female backing vocals. ‘Fix You’, has a couple of seconds of male backing vocals. ‘Footprints In The Sand’ has female backing vocals. ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ has female backing vocals. Maybe others also.

She knows where to go and how to get there. When you ask yourself how she got there just go to the line or two before and you will see that she sets herself up perfectly. I would have liked a duet with Martha with this song. Garfunkel really couldn’t do this song completely alone. 1969 Carnegie Hall performance is pretty epic.👍🌹❤️

Bob, what you described is Lucy's ACTING, with head movements, facial expressions, and her eye movements.......all creates that powerful, emotional aura where you feel what she feels.........she takes you on a journey into serene, tranquil, musical bliss..........the 'Lucy effect', LOL!! Great reaction again to Lucy. Yup she is the best. She can take any song and make it better than the original. I just can’t find the words that adequately describe how great she is. Her voice is beyond compare and her videos are even beyond that. I really like your reactions to Lucy and so I have waiting for you to react to a video done by Lucy a few weeks ago called “Above the Clouds” . Bob, I agree with you about the smoothness of Lucy's transitions from verse to verse. IMHO, two things standout: (1) The way she seems to pull some notes and (2) Lucy sings words and notes to the end (hard to explain but it's how she actually finishes a word or note which results in good diction and a clean sound) and that shortens the gap to the next line or verse (not as much dead air). I don't think there's a name for it except 'Smoooth'. 😂

Love your responses to Lucy Thomas videos, she really is amazing isn't she? I have a Lucy suggestion for you that I guarantee you will love, its called, "Make you feel my love". The majority of the time she is making eye contact with the camera and you can't help but feel she is singing directly to you! Anything Lucy is amazing, her low tones are so rich and mellow and then when she hits and holds a note for an extended period, then finishes it off with the most perfect vibrato. I heard of a college cross country runner was called a generational talent....... Well, that is exactly what Lucy Thomas is, a generational talent. There aren't enough words to describe how awesome her voice is!

Regarding hearing drums at the end, that's just a nod to the original track, and it's actually fairly standard in the covers to include those isolated snare hits with the really deep reverb on them to introduce the third and final verse. That's really the only thing in that direction, but yeah they chose to put it in there to make that reference.

Anyone who has read many of the comments praising lucy will notice that she has a large following of what you might call , elderly gentlemen. Since i fall into this category i can say the reason for this is because we have heard a lot of great singers in our lifetime & a lot of not so great. Lucy is the only vocalist that i have told friends & family about because she is in a class of her own, no competition. Flat out the best in my lifetime. Thank you lucy for sharing your gift & stay true to yourself.

I listened to your 1st comments and writing these comments before hearing the rest. Like Evergreen, I feel the same way about Bridge Over Troubled Waters when Lucy sings an old average song. I prefer to hear reactions to her new material like “ Above the Clouds. “ or a song I like. Lucy is the best young singer around but as great as she is, she can be over saturated. Now going back to the video to hear what you ended up saying & good luck with your health.

Reaction of the reaction: If I love a song I tend to listen to a song daily for several days, like I did with Lucy’s new duet, Above the Clouds. That song is visually pleasing like a mini love story within a musical. This one & Evergreen are all right, but I won’t be playing them over & over like Broken Dreams by Lucy or the lovely duets & trio, sung uniquely with sister and mother

Two thoughts, having regard to what you said about Lucy's singing, Bob. First, although Lucy obviously does take a breath here and there, one is not really aware of it, so her singing of successive phrases seems more seamless. Secondly, while Simon and Garfunkle sang the words very well, Lucy sings the emotions.

Bob, your comments keep deprecating yourself. As I've mentioned before, you're like "the man on the street" . ANYBODY listening to your critique can know just what your saying; it's refreshing. Further, regarding her visual presentation ( headshot/bust, just plain background) put's the focus on her, and as some reactor said: She gets away with it. Keep up the nice relatable comments.

I've been the recipient of a good number of emails where I get slammed by people who follow a certain female vocal coach. Fortunately, those comments are normally emails and only a few are actually posted (I delete those though...no need to get nasty here). Their normal comments are that I make occasional mistakes when discussing the vocals. Maybe that's why I constantly stress that I'm not a vocal coach. I'm really only doing this for fun and I like your "Man on the street" comment. That's kinda what I'm going for. Not trying to play myself off as an expert at all. Just trying to have fun listening to music. Oh well, you can't please everyone. :)
