I've done oil changes on so many different vehicles, and some are easier than others. This 2010 Hyundai Genesis is easy to begin with, but when I use an oil extractor, it is super easy.

I haven't tried this because I don't trust it to get every bit of oil out, but I should try it then crack my drain plug open to see if it got it all or not. My extractor also has the hookup for an air hose to keep it vacuuming and that works great for bleeding brakes. Just hook the extractor to the bleeder, crack it open and let it pull fluid through until it's clear, then close the bleeder.

On my Genesis, it gets around 95% of more of the oil but I’ve heard like you said that on some cars, it can’t get all the oil out. Thanks for watching!

That’s a very convenient way to do it and a better option than not changing it at all! my oils filter is under my car and i plan on keeping it forever so i like to get all of the particles out. This is cool for this application though🤝🤝

This gets most of the oil out, I would say at 90% or above. If you change your oil on regular intervals, this is perfect. Most of the time your oil is still fine because of how the refine and make it,

I've been using this method for years and it the best method. A couple of additional steps I do are: 1. Once air starts coming through, I drop half a litre of clean oil in the engine and wait for it to be sucked through, that ensures no old oil left in the sump. 2. I siphon out last few drops from air filter housing as well.

There is at least half a liter of oil left in the engine. After you suck it up like that, jack up the car and open the oil pan bolt and see for yourself.

Not on my car. I know exactly how much it takes and it removes it all. But you are correct, on some models it can’t get it all.

Of all the companies that'd make a car this user friendly, I never would have expected it to be Genesis! Also, something i need to know. With your large amounts of experience in the car market, do you know anywhere or anyone who's selling an RX-8 or 350Z cheap? I'm not particularly well-off, but I'm not letting that get in the way of my dreams of being the fastest man on the East Coast! Speaking of which, we should start a street racing team!

Doesn't this method leave metal particles from engine wear stuck to the inside of the magnetic drain plug? I would still remove it and clean it before adding new oil, otherwise you are just recirculating the metal dust through your engine.

Majority of cars don’t have magnetic drain plugs. As a Master Technician, I would know.

@@DriversTherapy thanks for the info. I am really old, and a lot of cars in my day had them. They also had a habit of chewing up bits of the engine. Maybe with better manufacturing procedures nowadays they don't need them.

Does this not have oil drain plug? Seems not as easy on the honda

It does but that takes more time. You have to lift a car and get under it and change the oil drain plug washer gasket.

@DriversTherapy no. You can drive over a ramp and crawl under. Been changing my oil and this looks more complicated to me. Specially with having to keep the siphon going and fighting with bubbles. Anyways, that's just my take. Maybe others find it easier.
