Definitely heed the advice he gives on not having oil too hot. I did this once, pushed the tube down into the oil pan, and the tube turned the corner, melted enough to kink and was stuck in place. I had to drop the oil pan to get it out. Longest oil change ever.

Hi! Thank you for producing this excellent video. You did great job keeping your shirt clean during oil change :-) . Great tips. I have a couple tips of my own after using the mitivac myself you probably know already. 1) warm up the engine, but do not let it get too hot, or let it cool down as the manual says "Do not extract oil when temperature is above 176 °F (80 °C)." A thermometer on dipstick right after pulling it out might be usefula 2) after inserting the tube at right spot, you could use a sharpie (permanent) or tape (temporary), and mark the tube then next time you know exactly how far to go with your vehicle. 3) if you open the engine fill cap that will allow air from top you could make the suction go faster. 4) put a rag/towels around the bottom of the filter, to keep drips from going down onto engine. 5) after sucking up all the oil leave the line connected to the mitivac and uses a closepin or similar and hang it high - this allows the residual oil on the line to drip down into the mitivac. Good luck with your channel and keep up the good work/content!

I have had my Mityvac since 2007 and never had any issues with it. I always empty it after use, by just reversing the valve direction and pumping the old oil into the same oil jug that I just poured in the engine. Never had any issues or leaks, maybe because I don't let any oil touch the seals.

I have an extractor myself. The unit I bought has both a hand pump as well as the air chuck so you can extract fluids using pneumatic vacuum without all the hand pumping. To clean the hoses, hold the tip up with your finger on the end of the open tube, apply a good amount of suction with the extractor and then just remove your finger a few times. The suction will draw almost the liquid residue in after a few suction cycles. This process is much easier on the pneumatic pumps, as you could imagine.

Thanks for the video man @Skrrt. I don't have the same exact pump, but it was similar enough and it was the same car that I did it myself. Also not sure why your pump is so slow, but mine pumped all the oil out in about 5 minutes or less. Saved myself over $150 on an oil change and the hours of waiting for my car back. I also put away the pump without cleaning it then watched the end of this video and ran back asap to go clean it out. Thanks!!

Critical part that you overlooked is not wanting to "dry start" the engine. When you insert the new oil filter, pour lots of new oil over it to saturate it and have as much oil in that section so the engine isn't running w/o oil for a couple of seconds as it works its way through new filter material.

Any tips for failure to suck properly? I have a version of this with the venturi valve where you can hook it up to your air compressor. Originally that used to work great, now it doesnt seem to be able to pull much. If I try to use the vacuum method and manually vacuum with the plunger, I do get much better suction but it's still also slow. As in I regret using this vs doing it the traditional way. I've only pulled 2 liters in about a half hour.
