Ludgershall Castle might be in ruins, but it’s filled with stories and so much character! Empress Matilda’s daring escape and King Henry’s updates to the castle bring the medieval history of this site to life. The tower and grand hall must have been spectacular in their prime. It’s wonderful to know such a unique place is free to visit and open to the public. Thanks for sharing these moments and the rich history of Ludgershall!

While in Wales last year - I would sit and ponder between the castle walls we were visiting. Had I had tie I may have written a song or a book even. Just lie this castle the stones tell a story and sometimes one can just feel the history. The stones breath the out into the open. Your story telling proves how weighted some of those lives have been. Awesome episode - as that's what it is like being connected to this channel. Ongoing episodes of amazing stories. ❤🇳🇱🙋♀🥝

Wow! Very different castle construction. Are there documents/ photographs of the 1960s excavation activity? The drone footage really helped me to visualize the size. I’m curious to know if the current earthen mound is original or was recreated using the dirt removed during excavation. Thanks always for your amazing video and one take historical narration. 🙏
@PinnedonPlaces10 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind comments and support! I believe there are some documents with the activity and the finds that they managed to excavate. It's really quite an interesting site, spanning thousands of years, from the Iron age to the present. Just mindblowing that it's sat behind someone's home! Hehe. Thank you for commenting :D
