Don't know if this kit classifies as the classic Downbeat, as the classic downbeat configuration is 12-14-20... This would be a mix of Super Classic and Downbeat sizes, and can therefore be technically called a "Super Beat" , which i think would be more appropriate ;) Nevertheless, great video, great sound, great drums, and great playing ! Keep it up guys !!
@DeanMk17 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. It's not 20-12-14, but more specifically, it doesn't have the 14x4 "Downbeat" snare drum. If anything, it would be considered a "Superbeat".
@rhythmista77077 жыл бұрын
DeanMk1-- The "downbeat" snare drum is only called that because of the series of kit, which consisted of a 12-14-20 configuration. What your stating would be like calling any other Ludwig series the Supraphonic, simply because that most other Ludwig kits came with that snare. The classic Downbeat configuration will always be associated with those 3 drum sizes, regardless of whether it comes with the original snare drum or not..But you are correct, this set up would be considered a "Super Beat".
@brianchisnell15485 жыл бұрын
Super Classic = 3 ply. Classic =5 ply
@Paisteconvert4 жыл бұрын
@@brianchisnell1548 That distinction was used later...maybe 1990s. Supper Classic referred to the 22,13, 16 set-up in the 1960s. Shells until 1968 were 3-ply, mahogany/poplar/mahogany.
@brianchisnell15484 жыл бұрын
@@Paisteconvert You are correct!! I have In my stable a '69 big beat. Same as a Hollywood, but atlas hardware. The terms were switched around a lot. Mahog/poplar/maple inner ply. Champagne sparkle. These days, the 20/13/16 Ludwig kit is known as a "Super Beat". 20/12/14 is "Downbeat" ONLY if it uses the 14x4 Downbeat snare drum. You're playing a Super Beat kit.

Yes there is. I can't see it but it could either be the "baseball bat" muffler because the adjustment rod resembles a baseball bat or just a round adjustment knob depending on what year they were produced.
