aokiji low key a top 3 villain in the story to this day..he is so fleshed out unlike some of the bigger names..i know he was more of an antagonist/anti hero but still...like doflamingo is the top one i would say but aokiji is right there at 2-3 range with the combination of buggy mr. 2 due to this arc i would say both being mushed together in one spot in the top 3 with arlong at like 4 and then crocodile in the top 5 and then katakuri...as of now...

why doesn't she like moria?..he lost his crew to kaido..they were killed cause they were not prepared and he had a big mouth/ego challenging a yonkou...and after that he takes shadows and makes undead people that can't leave his ship because hes so depressed that he does not want to lose anyone ever again so he makes sure he can't...thats so sad and contrasts brook so well in that arc who also lost his crew for 50 years had to spend time with their dead bodies in regret and found a new crew to heal the hold in his heart and he overcame the pain..moria did not..hes just filled with remorse regret and guilt and sadness...one person got over it the other did not...two sides of the same coin..it shows how different people in different ways react to trauma...hes actually a really solid character..imo..hes like arlong...its just subtle...

You got to think about Garp’s position. He’s been part of the navy for years. He’s had these ideals for most of his life. He has many friends in the navy. Yes, Ace is his Grandson, and ace is a good person. But he can’t just make an exception because of that. He can’t just abandon his beliefs that he’s had for most of his life just because he doesn’t like the situation. Even if it hurts him, he has to make a choice. And he is one of the most well know and respected people in the navy. If he were to betray them, or even not participate, it would be devastating for their morale and image.

It's a tough decision and I don't blame whatever your thoughts are about Garp, but I agree with the Original poster on the difficulty of all the things going through Garp's head. If you were to to try to put yourself into Garp's shoes and TRY to compare this to real life: say if you were the chief of police, and your nephew who was a criminal who did something bad enough to get a death penalty (like a mass-school shooting, concert bombing, or child sex trafficking or or something bad enough to warrant a death penalty - although Ace may not have been that bad, though Garp was pretty much trying to make him go good), Would you throw away EVERYTHING away (and most likely have to fight your colleagues(aka. shoot with a gun) that you've worked with for your whole life in order to save your nephew's life? It's a tough call.

"Why isnt Whitebeard doing anything" 2 reasons. 1. Anime time - Animations happening are lengthened for dramatic effect and increase time of episodes, these things happening within mere INSTANTS its not like people are standing still just LETTING things happen. Thats not how the stories written to be perceived. 2. This is the scale of a full war. Whitebeard in no way can protect thousands of soldiers from an onslaught of lava fists raining from the skies. Even if he used his powers the lava could end up flung anywhere and he'd just be blowing ALL his strength defending people instead of working a way out of the situation. You could also say that anyone showing up to this fight is a reasonably strong fighter and knows the risks of full scale war.

With Garp you have to consider: This is his life! He is part of a military in an incredibly violent world, which is partially ruled by criminal warlords. There are deadly battles every day. In that world the job of the Navy, as corrupt and brutal as many of its officials are, is to protect innocent people from those criminals. Garp has been fighting for that ideal for decades. He has been fighting and killing and probably saw dozens of friends and pirates die. This his life we're talking about. This is a big deal.

I appreciate you guys trying to get the pronouns for Ivankov right. I'm nonbinary and go by they/them, but I think Ivankov would be fine with any pronouns, though probably prefers he/him when in male form and she/her when in female, and they/them would always be fine. They and Inazuma seem to be pretty clearly gender-fluid. But I don't think Ivan can really be "misgendered" as long as you're not actively trying to be disrespectful and shoehorn them into one gender. Worst thing you could do is ONLY refer to them as he/him. Other than that, you're probably fine no matter what. This translation is old though, so everyone says he/him even though the Japanese pronouns are more neutral than that. They/them would probably be a more accurate translation.

I don't remember the anime or the manga ever explaining it, but the reason why Whitebeard couldn't break that wall isn't cos of the sea stone thing, but cos it is made from Wapol metal. Yes, that Wapol, from the place that Chopper came from, the island of doctors. Wapol can make Wapol metal, which is stronger than any metal in the One Piece world. I believe this was explained in a SBS, I could be wrong. Also, look up One Piece SBS. It's kind of an AMA for Eiichiro Oda, One Piece's author. He did some SBSs and they're really funny.

I loved that scene. Luffy had zero chance to get to Ace but Garp couldnt bring himself to hit his grandson thus allowing Luffy a chance to save Ace. I think Garp wanted Luffy to succeed and for them to escape but couldnt throw all his life his freedom and his dreams away. He told them time and time again to not become pirates AKA criminals he wasnt the best grandfather but he cared. The whole arc is like torture for Garp and in the end of it and after it he is broken.

If you want to know about the different kinds of pirates, you should watch episode 907, making sure to skip the opening and ending credits. The entire episode is based off of romance dawn, a manga Oda wrote before One Piece. Luffy is the main character, but the world is a little different. The types of pirates is pretty much the same, though. alternitively you could read Romance Dawn, but I don't think garp is in that one.

I finally caught up with you guys! I'm up to date with the manga, but looking back at Marineford, I genuinely think that Garp wanted to be killed. I feel like he entered the frey to try to die; he couldn't choose between his Grandkids and his ties to the Marines, he truly believed the marines where correct and almost infallible until this moment, I feel like this was the tipping point for him. it's not Magnetic. the plates of the Earth aren't moving because of the magnetic force our planet has, it's just the Earth moving, shifting the plates deep underneath the crust and causing massive vibrations and tremors. what Whitebeard is doing is literally being the vibration of those quakes. when he is tilting the island and ocean: that's the vibrations causing that and acting like the plates that happen during a Earthquake. when he throws a punch: it is literally just vibrations shot out like a shockwave. it's not magnets, it's vibrations. that's why when he hits the air, it's not some kind of magnetic force, it's the vibrations hitting the air and causing quakes to happen.

whitebeard had the quake-quake fruit, he can crack anything which causes crack in air ,sea , land .That's why he can cause tsunami's and earthquakes .The impact which he cause by cracking the air and sea forms the big waves which increases as travel and distort everything in path. the Gravity you are talking about is not with him, Admiral FUJITORA has that power, he can manipulate gravity according to him.

Whitebeard’s power (the tremor tremor fruit) isn’t magnetic it’s *vibrations.* That’s all an earthquake is, just extremely powerful vibrations from 2 tectonic plates colliding. He can apply these vibrations to anything he makes contact with, when he punches the air (and it cracks and shatters from the tremor effect) it’s just him vibrating the air to cause powerful shockwave. He can also shift the tectonic area of land he’s near which is him tilting the sea/tsunamis.

The thing is Garp in this entire arc is crushed between what to choose - his duty or his family ; Sengoku said Garp is the face of the Navy coz of his various achievements he cant just choose family over duty but i am goddamn sure when he will face this same decision making problem again he will choose his family...it was said that during marineford Garp was the strongest person present , well WB is not coz of his health issues and Sengoku is a great figher but he is more of a leader....he cant just make an exception for his family

For why Whitebeard isn't doing "anything". It's how war is, and he's playing smart. Same with the Admirals. Why aren't they on the front lines? Surely they could rack up massive body counts if they do, especially Sengoku, but then they'd be playing their cards too early. Only play them when you need to, or else you run the risk of wasting valuable assets. Think of Sengoku and Whitebeard Ace's of each side, with Whitebeard in particular being an Ace of Spades. Each Admiral and Yonko Commander is a King, the vice admirals are Queens and Jacks, and the division leaders on Whitebeard side are his Queens and Jacks. You don't want to play your King, unless its to deal with a King. Play it too early, then your opponent can one up you. Whitebeard being an Ace of Spades, isn't playing his card early, ESPECIALLY since the Admirals aren't doing anything yet. If he knows he has Kings to take on the Admirals, leave that to them. It's all strategy here. I think that made sense

If you don't remember there are 3 other pirates on Whitebeard's level. With WB included they're called the Four Emperors. Also the reason Whitebeard doesn't take action when the magma fists are raining down is because he wants the ice to melt so he can unleash his paddle ship and burst his way into the plaza. It's very subtle but WB is making tactical plays and thinking ahead during this war.
