I went to rewatch Ep 1015 after this. It has to be something that fits into the way both Luffy and Gol D. Roger saying "I'm going to..." Right before, Ace is talking about becoming a great notorious pirate and showing what he can do. Roger is talking about how getting to the final Island will make him the world's greatest pirate group. It is also limited by the knowledge of Luffy as a child. I don't think he would know much about the Red Line or weird geography of the world. I think it has to be something related to showing others the appeal of true freedom, but stated in very child-like terms. It seems like it would be somewhere in the range of "I want to make the Marines become pirates!" and "I want to get the whole world to gather together in one place" Because the dream requires worldwide recognition, it seems appropriate that childhood Luffy would want the influence to make Garp a pirate to show him why it means so much to him. Luffy knows very few people. What else would he imagine if he thought he could influence others? It sounds appropriately childish. As for gathering the whole world for a party or allowing them to safely visit the wonders of the world, that would require the cooperation of the Marines, so it is somewhat related. Neither of these really sound right though, so it might be something that somehow results the same outcome.

Yes, episode 1015 does a great job of illustrating the idea and the beautiful connection with Roger. The fact that he’s had the dream since being a young child is one of the most important keys to thinking about his dream. All while also saying that this is the same exact dream as Roger, a 50ish year old legendary pirate lol I think your ability to notice all the connections but still being unable to make a really accurate theory is something that shows how masterful oda is at hiding this dream. He is so careful to not reveal too much while also showing the most important elements we need to know.

I think you're on the right track, but why stop at the Marines? I think he wants the whole world to be pirates (and maybe even join his crew). In Luffy's mind, this would be the same thing as making everyone in the world free and equal. No kings, no slaves, just a bunch of pirate crews

I think Luffy's dream will be something related to spreading freedom throughout the world, because he said he wants to be the pirate king because they are the most free.

My only reservation is that it's a child's dream and not just any child but goofy ass luffy. I don't think his dream is going to be too thought out or as aspirational as spreading freedom. Also spreading freedom is something a hero would do and in his own words he's not a hero.
@BigDadPirates

Yeah I definitely believe Luffy doesn’t see himself as a hero but he does want people to live how they want to live so I think he desires freedom for the world because everyone needs to be free from their chains so Luffy can be free himself. If someone is a slave…then those same freedoms can be stolen from him or anyone else.

Children are inherently selfish in terms of how they think about the world…but that doesn’t mean they are malicious so I agree that luffy’s dream is for himself and his family BUT his dream will affect the entire world to the point that it frees everyone as a side effect.

My brother likes to joke that his dream is to have a feast full of food with all the world, and honestly I stating to grow fond of it, it breaks a laugh out of me because he mentions it in the most random moments, and honestly Luffy’s love for food and people makes it kinda possible. I don’t on, keep on dreaming I guess, loved your video.

If you're right about Luffy's dream somehow tying into liberation, of both marginalized groups achieving equality and civilians worldwide coming together as an international community (when the world governement collapses) rather than the fractured individual societies that make up the world currently, then it's possible Big Mom's dream might not be too different from Luffy's. After all, that's the gist of her dream. The only difference would be that Big Mom can never achieve her goal because she tries to reach it by utilizing fear, whereas Luffy would assumably go about achieving his dream in a much friendlier and "free" manner. Wouldn't surprise me if it turns out Oda used Big Mom's dream to juxtapose Luffy's.

Yeah I definitely noticed that during Whole Cake Island. Lin Lin’s dream sounds exactly like something Roger or Joy Boy would want but she’s not like those two at her core so she twists the dream selfishly which creates a dark tone underneath the bright and happy aesthetic of Whole Cake Chateau Thanks for the thoughtful comment

Personally, I would like his dream to be to destroy the red line, and unite the world. And that dream would make sense with his crews reactions, with some laughing at his dream, and some saying its impossible. The destruction of the red line would also create the all blue for sanji, which is another bonus.
@BigDadPirates

It’ll be so interesting to see how the world changes with the redline being destroyed! It is kind of difficult to fathom how massive the Redline is too. I wonder if it is related to the weird magnetic fields in the world too.

its true his dream is not to be a king, he wants to just make friends thats why hes so dense. ive always thought Roger also rejected the notion of becoming king himself because he mostly wanted to find a cure to his illness(cancer). he searched it for years and decades and only found something else. the only mystery is joyboy, did he want to be king? did he want something else? its sad how as the story goes, there must be a king or else....

Im not sure what his dream is tbh. The whole world party is intriguing for several reasons. 1 luffy loves them, emphasis on them throughout the series, its a crazy dream, and is child like. My hesitation would be do u really need to get the one piece and be king to make it happen and would a child make that connection. So to me it sounds the best but i have reservations about it. Ultimately in oda i trust to make it all make sense in the end.
@BigDadPirates

Yeah, I one hundred percent agree that Luffy having a massive party seems more like a by product of his dream. I’m very excited to see how Oda shows his dream and connects it with the other major themes of the story

Sabo told Luffy "I want to sail around the world and write a book about it. I'll become a pirate to make that happen." Ace then said "I'll become a pirate so great that the world will know my name and accept me. I don't even care if they call me a villain." Luffy mentioned his dream in response to theirs. He might have even created/altered his dream on the spot. He's like "Okay. Then I'll be..." I think it has something to do with making a world where you don't have to be a pirate to be free, and just because you're a pirate doesn't mean you're vilified.

imu is an umibozu, i feel like thats as close to confirmed as unconfirmed can be. theres a story about an umibozu who guarded this island, so at night people couldnt go to sea or theyd drown. this man who wanted to explore the whole sea went ahead to do just that. when he came across the umibozu, it asked if he was scared of it. the man said nothing is scarier than traveling the whole sea and it let him go. the way to 'stop' and umibozu is with a bottomless barrel. so my theory is that luffy's dream is just to explore the entire ocean and the one piece will be a bottomless barrel. that would also finish OP the way it started which is very Oda
@BigDadPirates
@BigDadPirates 5 ай бұрын
That would be really cool! I’ve heard a lot of the information about umibozu and I definitely think it has some validity. I ultimately just think their identity/powers/origin will be a mix of a few different inspirations.

Haven't watched this yet but theres no way Luffy's dream is something generic as to free/liberate the world. Not only is that too corny but if Luffy actually cared about that he would have been actively trying to liberate the islands he visits but he never did so intentionally until Wano. If Luffy's goal were something as simple as liberating the world then Luffy would have joined the revolutionaries. Luffy is NOT out to free everybody. People keep ignoring the reality that Luffy is selfish and only cares about people he knows/met. If he does have a goal it is going to be something inherently selfish but ultimately leads to the world being free.
