I can imagine Sabo being framed for the murder of Cobra and the attempted murder of Vivi when, in reality, it was the World Government that tried it and Sabo saved Vivi (who may potentially have escaped) as we do know that Vivi and Cobra have some connection to Pluton. This connection may prove more dangerous than they'd like and so they'd opt to kill them since they're convinced they'll get Nico Robin after Wano. Just as well, putting Sabo on the execution platform is the easiest way to lure one Monkey D. Luffy to wherever the Hell they'd like as it wouldn't take a genius to find out that Sabo is connected to Ace and, therefore, Luffy. When you consider just how many countries and pirates Luffy has allied himself with along with his defeat of Doflamingo, Katakuri, Big Mom, and Kaido as well as his lineage and previous antics, it would be almost foolish of Sakazuki to NOT take the change to bait him into a trap.

@@ahmadshiddiqn Rather than kidnapping her, I could see her getting away in the chaos (possibly at the cost of Sabo getting captured) and the World Government giving the official statement that she "refuses to comment after such a traumatic event" and then she would later meet up with Luffy and co when they show up to fight, informing them that the World Government was the one trying to kill her.

That would totally work with the themes of One Piece as well; in the original Marineford, Luffy was alone and relying mostly on strangers to help him. In Marineford 2.0, he would have his crew and actual trusted allies to back him up. Plus, it would prove Luffy’s strength as the ‘fifth emperor’ to the world by succeeding where Whitebeard failed two years prior.

I think Sabo is being framed for the death or the attempted assassination that we came to know. Maybe turned into a slave like kuma. I don't even know why people theorise death. It's one piece. If death of a major & relatively new character like Sabo happens it won't be offscreen. There were death flags on cobra though due to health and age, so probably he's the one who's dead. I personally don't want Sabo to be in the same position as Ace pre time-skip and that being a central focus. It's too similar. But who knows what oda has planned and maybe I'll like what I think I won't.

Since there’s been a situation in Alabasta, I believe the Celestial dragons killed Cobra, but before they could kill Vivi too, Sabo rescued her and had to flee. The government then framed him for Cobra’s assassination and ‘kidnapping’ the princess. That’s my theory.

i highly doubt sabo is dead off screen, i speculate the celestial dragons manipulated the information and say sabo is dead to get a reaction from either luffy or especially dragon. sabo has to much information just to be killed easily. if i where a celestial dragon holding him as a prisoner to get information is the most realistic thing to do . lastly i highly doubt oda would recreate marineford war 2.0 , it would just be lazy writing and its not oda's style.

I can't imagine Sabo being dead just based off of what we saw at Marineford that acted as a push for the two year timeskip. Luffys grief wasn't just at the loss of his brother, it was more specifically his inability to protect him. This is a point that became an important character moment for Luffy at Enies Lobby as well, where he mentioned his motivation to become stronger (developing gears two and three) was to better protect those he cares about. I think Luffys evolution in this way would offer up an opportunity to prove that he has fulfilled his promise to never let anyone he cares about die again in the context of Sabo. That's why I don't think Oda would just kill him off here.

My biggest problem with all of this is Oda himself. He is a brilliant writter for the most part and has shown time and time again that he can pull amazing twists and continous to build great characters and storylines even 20+ years into One Piece. If he really has to rehash an old story concept again, I'd be really disappointed. I think if we are going to get a Marineford 2.0, the outcome will be very different.

I know people don’t really want marineford 2.0 buuuut, I do think even if Oda used the same set up, the outcome would be different. Last time Luffy came without his crew, only had a few people that were closely allied with him, he became a central figure through his actions but in 2.0 he’d likely be someone they’re explicitly trying to lure there. It’d likely be an inversion of WB’s fleet coming to save ace and Luffy kinda showing up as a major underdog, this time it’d be Luffy’s grand fleet and the revolutionary army would be a smaller part of the equation. After defeating BM and Kaido Luffy as a threat is probably far greater than they could imagine. I’m also excited to see Luffy at the end of Wano, like obviously he’ll get crazy strong but it’ll cement him as the most powerful pirate alive and I just want to see a serious, determined, and hopefully more mature and composed Luffy leading the charge to rescue Sabo. It could also serve as a great opportunity to show the new age of pirates and the dismantling of the 4 emperor system all together, Shanks would be the only remaining Emperor from that Era and it’d be nice to see him pass that torch to Luffy. Marineford 2.0 could serve as a great opportunity to turn the one piece world on its head. I also anticipate Luffy not doing the sneaky surprise attack approach WB took, it’ll likely be an all out show of force that drives the WG and celestial dragons to unveil some secret and wild shit, like that science division, or even an ancient weapon. Also I think people are expecting big things from a Luffy Dragon reunion but I actually think Luffy couldn’t care less about Dragon, throughout the story we’ve seen how blood bonds mean nothing to him, Ace and Sabo are his brothers, the straw hats are his family, dadan is the closest thing to a mother they had, and Dragon is basically just a stranger to him. Can’t wait for everything I said to be completely wrong in like… 2-3 years when this arc actually happens.

A bit off, but I had a revalation about Blackbeard. We learned in Alabasta, the saga where Blackbeard became noteable, Which is the same arc we learned that through science devil fruits can be in objects. We've only seen it in Zoans, but it's never been explicitly stated. When you look at blackbeard he has different colored rings on his hands. I believe it to be very possible that he is actually imbuing devil fruits into these rings, which gives the perception of having multiple fruits. How crazy would it be for Blackbeard to get knocked in the water expecting his defeat, but he can actually swim.

I am pretty sure Garp would absolutely fight against his duty as a marine if given enough reason. Hell, we have already seen him come close when he was going to kill Akainu after Ace died. I know without a doubt Garp will not let something like that happen again. We don't have enough info about Dragon for me to confidently say that Dragon would fight with them but he DID save Luffy at Lougue Town. It's looking pretty good in that respect. Lol It would be pretty epic to see happen. It just has to be done in a way that makes sense. I don't want it to be a fan service moment. Luckily for us, Oda is a good writer and I trust him to write a story good enough with or without a moment like that.

My theory is thst Cobra has been killed, Sabo has been captured and framed for it and was sentenced to death. Maybe this was an attempt by the Celestial Dragons to remove the Nefertari family. Maybe Wabo got captured ensuring Vivi's escape. It would end up been a repeat of the Marineford arc. But Luffy is stronger now and has something he didnt last time. Honestly i dont think he underestimated the difficulty, like he has a mad engineer a murder of crows that can spy everywhere and morley who can get them anywhere. It was a pretty good infiltration troop. I think vivi or smth got attacked and they had to step in... or sabo fucked up the mission for Kuma. So like they theoretically would have been succesful but they fucked up cuz of emotions.

So basically, imu-sama picked cobra to be "cleansed" and framed sabo of doing so. Their story would go like "Sabo killed cobra and the admirals captured him". By doing so they would indeed start a war with the revolutionary army and the straw-hats, it would also make for a father son reunion in marine ford and this time dragon trusts his son to save sabo while he fights the world government and almost fails and luffy comes in clutch and saves his father as well... tho imo killing sabo offscreen would be better than having another marineford arc

I`ve got the feeling that CP attempted to kill Vivi through order of Imu but Kobra became aware of that and took the Bullet, hence being killed instead, and the World Govt. blamed Sabo for that (the Murder of Kobra and the attempted Murder on Vivi) and Sabo, after nearly being killed in Battle by Fujitora and Ryukogyu, was instead captured and imprisoned in order to set an Execution for him, when Morley, Karasu and Lindbergh fled with Vivi in tow and are now in hiding via Morleys Powers, which was Sabos last order and Luffy will learn of this after the Fall of Kaido (maybe through CP0 when they arrive on Wano), hence maybe setting another Rescue Arc. But I assume they hold Sabo captive to lure out Dragon and the main Troop of the RA, triggering another Marineford 2.0 but offscreen.

During the Reverie arc I've had a questions regarding Garp. We know that he was together with the fishmen at the beginning and then left them when they went up to the conference. After that Carlos tried to capture Shirahosi and so on. So how do think would that situation played out if garp was still with them? Let's be honest, fujitora is too powerful even for sabo. The only reason 1 admiral is below 1 yonko is because yonkos are durable. If we only take their offensive capabilities, for example kizaru's kicking that island mangrove and fujitora meteor that's on par on what the yonkos have shown in terms of power (wb not included because he is on another level)

I think the marines might be playing 4D chess here. They are very aware of Luffy's growing infamy and influence. So they have to snuff it before he can truly become another emperor. They are mostly likely aware of his connections to Sabo and Vivi, so if they had Cobra murdered and an 'attempt' made on Vivi's life, then blamed Sabo for it, it would absolutely grab Luffy's attention

The thing that gets me is Luffy is going to run off and fight the World Government regardless of who survived and died. If people are correct that key player are Sabo, Vivi, and Cobra, there is no combination of living and dead that Luffy would not attempt to rescue. If Sabo is alive he will be awaiting execution for a murder he did not commit, and if Vivi or Cobra are alive they would be held at Mary Geoise for "protection" due to the attempted murder. Either way Luffy would be easily prompted to go save the surviving individuals.

My reverie hypothesis So my second watch through (read once too) at the reveree now. And now I think I know who died. The Donquixoto or whatever guy that saved shirahoshi and they blamed it on Sabo. Charlos killed him and they covered up the death by blaming sabo. Sabo also likely attacked charlos. Or maybe doffys uncle steps in and is colateral damage. Oda didn’t introduce the guy in fishman to have him save the princess. It was to have the ONE human (he doesn’t consider himself a god) that’s a world noble die to spark an international incident and be a catalyst to the war.
