What happens if everyone has to brace for impact? Do they have to go to the upper deck and find seats?
@nigelft6 жыл бұрын
Art C If you look closely enough, each bunk has it is own seatbelt ... so if the manure does hit the air conditioning system, you strap in tight, and hope for the best ... Ironically, one of the things that NASA found, in 60's, and 70's, iirc, was the human body can withstand far greater g-forces in a prone position, than sitting upright. I seem to remember there were studies into making fighter jet seats where the pilot was laying face down, and both hands used joy-stick type controls (not unlike current 'glass cockpit' airlines) ... the big downside was how to support both the head and neck during dynamic manoeuvres, let alone level flight, plus ejection was more or less out of the question. Hence, all fighter planes have upright ejector seats ... (Side note: if you read the two-volume story of Tintin going to the moon, all the crew bunks are shaped so everyone is laying in a face down position, with a contoured 'hump' supporting the hips and upper things, and angled slightly up for the chest; not unlike the NASA studies ...)
@Kenny-td4xc4 жыл бұрын
If there is time for brace, definitely they have to go back to they crew seats for impact. However if the situation is so worse that they don’t even have time for that, brace for impact probably won’t help a lot

The Airbus A380 cabin crew rest area is a designated space onboard the aircraft where flight attendants can rest during long-haul flights. Here's an overview of the A380's cabin crew rest area: 1. **Location**: The rest area is typically located on the upper deck of the A380, behind the cockpit or near the rear of the aircraft. It is separate from the passenger cabin to provide privacy and a quiet environment for rest. 2. **Layout**: The exact layout and configuration of the rest area may vary depending on the airline's preferences and the specific version of the A380. However, it generally includes sleeping berths or bunk beds, as well as seating areas for flight attendants to relax when they are not resting. 3. **Facilities**: The rest area is equipped with basic amenities to ensure the comfort of the cabin crew during their rest periods. This may include comfortable beds or berths with bedding, storage compartments for personal belongings, lighting controls, and ventilation systems to maintain a comfortable temperature. 4. **Accessibility**: Access to the cabin crew rest area is typically restricted to flight attendants and other authorized crew members. It may be accessed via a staircase or ladder from the main deck of the aircraft, and some versions of the A380 may also have an elevator for easier access. 5. **Regulations**: Airlines must comply with regulatory requirements regarding crew rest facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of their flight attendants. These regulations may dictate factors such as the number of rest areas required based on the length of the flight, the maximum number of crew members allowed to rest simultaneously, and the minimum rest period required between duty periods. Overall, the cabin crew rest area on the Airbus A380 plays a crucial role in ensuring that flight attendants remain well-rested and alert throughout long flights, contributing to the overall safety and comfort of passengers onboard.

IDK why airlines and plane makers don't offer flights like this for regular passengers, where instead of buy a seat, you buy a pod (this would be perfect for those "red eye" or overnight flights overseas that are 8+ hours). I remember flying from Chicago Zurich Switzerland and a sleeper pod like this would have been perfect (since you leave around 7pm at night and arrive 8 hours later, which is about 3am Chicago time, but 11am Swiss time, because of the additional 8 hours time difference, so you've lost another 8 hours of sleep time as well. Either way, I think these would be perfect for such a flight, even if they charged more. I think some people, like business people would pay for it so they can be rested when they get to their destination.
@DGFishRfine13 жыл бұрын
Evacuations and service would be impossible. :( Trust me, demand for this sort of thing hasn't escaped notice. It's just not remotely feasible. I'm holding out hope for semi-sealed "pod" seats in biz class one day (screaming children can fuck off forever 😍) but I'm not holding my breath

It is an extremely unhealthy lifestyle, with irregular sleep patterns, stress and endless hours of boredom interspersed with moments of terror. I am a retired short haul airline pilot who got out before T&Cs were buried by the LCCs. I wouldn’t recommend it as a carrier now (even post Covid) the glory days are long gone. .

Lack of oxygen irregular sleeping patterns, UV exposure... irregular eating patterns. Lack of rest, vertigo just to add a few..

I would be claustrophobic in that small cramped area.

I'm surprised Etihad didn't use this space for their apartments. The ceiling is actually higher than in the main cabin!

Airlines actually not permit to fly without the crew rest area and this area also not design for passengers as it wont meet any safety regulations

Different aircraft are equipped with different Crew rest areas. This one you see here has washrooms and sinks. Most do not and are one isle with very little space. The nice thing is there are tv screens that you can see and the In Charge has a phone to be contacted if an emergency arises.

I would be "that" person. "I am faint, perhaps I should lay down temporarily in the crew quarters". #snooze

Que arrecho, los lujos para los pasajeros pero para la tripulación que los atiende, lo más mínimo en comodidades.

What do you mean exactly?

Nowadays verses what? The workload has only increased through the years as aircraft are configured to hold more passengers and less crew to reduce costs. In Canada the ratio is 1 Flight Attendant per 50 passengers.
