That jet burns approximately 1 gallon of fuel per second - but holds more than enough to easily keep it aloft for 10 hours. 800,000 pounds, lifts off the ground effortlessly, blows through the atmosphere at nearly 600mph and on this flight, lands as gently as a falling feather. 747s may be outdated and inefficient compared to 777/787 versions but they still never fail to impress.

I love watching videos of these beautiful jets taking off, landing and flying. I rarely see comments on the pilots and their talents and ability's. My twenty year old nephew earned his pilots license about eight months ago. Three months ago he earned his certification to fly single prop aircraft with retractable landing gear. His goal is to become a commercial airline pilot. I went up with him once so far and it was awesome. I have a lot of respect for pilots. I never knew how much work,dedication, and love of flying it takes to become a pilot. Of course you also need the funds to achieve that goal. My brother makes a good living and my nephew worked his ass off to pay for it so the financial part was the least of his worries to achieve what he has and for what it will take to reach his goal. Whenever you fly just remember the dedication and the love of flying that the pilots have to make sure you and your family get to your destination safely. They deserve the upmost respect.

In 1997, long time ago, I have visited Canada, British Columbia and Alberta provinces. Our journey started from Frankfort airport and lead us to Vancouver. Upon " Transat Airlines", a Canadian Airline. Via Scotland, Faroer, Iceland, Greenland....----> Hudson Bay, Manitoba, Saskatchewan---> Alberta to our destination Vancouver. Magnificent. We have crossed Greenland while midnight sun was still shining at 1 a.m. (!). Eleven hours of flight, a break of 45 minutes in Calcary.... 9 hours time zone difference to Germany... 3 days jetleg, but the what a phantastic scenery it was there. UNFORGETTABLE !!! Thank you so much for the upload. With very best regards from old Germany, Rainer

Pretty 'rad' that stretch starting around the 15 minute marker. I'd say it's totally extreme - the way the plane flies relatively close to terrain for so many minutes - also EXTREME is the sense that this is one of the most stunningly beautiful views of Earth from above I've ever seen.

Wonderful but bittersweet for me. I am Canadian born but living in Geneva, Switzerland since 1996. I would often travel home and 2015 was the last time I came for a "normal" Xmas with my parents before my father developed severe dementia and passed away durng the holidays 2017-2018 (was there also fortunately). 2015 I came for a visit and also flew the same Lufthansa flight through Frankfurt and possibly the same 747-400! Same view at any rate.

@michaelfarrell81339 жыл бұрын
+Stacie45 Very true your observation. There are alot of good Canadians, the hostile and arrogant ones like kal are British Columbians that think that the world by default should revolve around Vancouver, and has to take notice. I spent 25 years of my life there, so I know what the "B.C. mentality" is like. And NO Vancouver is not the first, last or only place in the world that has hosted an exposition, world fair, world soccer championship or served as a filming location!

Yes, and you could see the long vapor trail behind it. It's kind of interesting how the aircrafts don't start making those trails until going over about 400 mph and are at least 20,000 ft high. You don't see planes taking off and landing making those trails, since only going about 200 mph then.

My first flight ever was in a DC6 from Vancouver to Kelowna in 1966 . I am blown away that the greater Vancouver / New Westminster / Burnaby area has expanded so incredibly. All those highrises !!! Downtown was off towards the background as we landed. I lived with two other immigrant Brits in an apartment near Stanley Park for $275 a month for the three of us haha ! I do believe we flew over Lake Louis and either Kootenay Lake or Okanagon. I recognised Hope as we entered the Fraser Valley. Awesome !

This video looks like a first or business class window with a nice view of the Canadian Rockies in which it's altitude is higher close to the flight on the route to Vancouver. On Lufthansa, in general, aircraft are in top shape. Even 25 years old 320s or, in this case, a 747-400, have all very well kept cabins, spotless lavatories (at least at the beginning of a flight, but that problem can be quickly solved by cleaning) and non scratched windows.
