I remember riding the bart when I was in the 6th grade going to a cal football game.. Had a fun time on the BART. Wish we would have one here in the sacramento Valley.. Traffic is getting crazy here, and there is more pressure to put more high ways here..

Thank you so much for this video! I wanted to test some headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC), and it was surprisingly difficult to find a video with sounds of BART trains from the interior of them!

Bart mainly gets high ridership during rush hours, as all systems do. It doesn't go too many places, so it doesn't really get high ridership at all. The only reasons I have ever ridden BART is to get to the airport or across the bay into SF. The only time I haven't ridden transbay is when I was coming back from walnut creek with my dad when I was 8. The trains get most crowded in the SF city center, as well as transbay during rush hours. As you can see, Bart doesn't go many places and is fairly linear. www.google.com/maps/@37.7862175,-122.4163354,10.83z/data=!5m1!1e2?hl=en

This was the peak loudness era for BART, before they introduced the new trains and began fixing the poor wheel design on the older ones. Got so bad that some people wore earplugs.
@opwave793 жыл бұрын
When I was in high school riding BART with my classmates, we used to “harmonize” with the train sounds by humming just for fun and make fake station announcements with our hands over our mouths. Good times.

The cars are so wide. They wouldn't be able to run on Chicago track because their width would cause them to derail or get stuck at the 90° turns.

I think San Francisco's BART is the best subway system in the U.S., the NYC subway and train system looks like an old coal mine to me and the tracks are full of trashes. NYC need to redevelop and modernize their subway system like the BART. Major Asian cities have the most excellent subway system in the world and including their airports too.
@oussematrabelsi94295 жыл бұрын
Nyc subway is one of the oldest subway systems. Renovationing isn't easy. Also usa has alot of international airports to mantain unlik3 asian countries like Malaysia or Singapore who have only 1 or 2 huge airports

When I used to live in Concord, used to take BART quite often, was glad to hear back when they they did it that they entended it past the Concord Station and I think now it goes all the way towards Antioch is that Correct? But now for one of the bad things, noticed now how they have installed those newer front ends of the trains, the flatter ones, was always so used to the original one, the semi triangler front ends, those always used to look so much better, but BART is still BART, just like other people have said, just as noisy espicially when they go through the tunnels, but they always have the speed, Think sometimes they actually get up to at least 80 at some points which is not too shabby......
@BayAreaTransitNews9 жыл бұрын
It currently extends past Concord to Pittsburg/Bay Point, which opened in 1996. Soon, Antioch will receive a system called "eBART," which will terminate at Hillcrest/Antioch and connect with BART at Piitsburg/Bay Point. Should be open in 2018.
@jimfulgham96448 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Silva The reason they went to the flat front cars is that it gives them more flexibility to hook cars together. They could not do that with the Aerodynamic front "old cars".
@pizzasubs8 жыл бұрын
Jim Fulgham your right, back then they always had to seperate the trains so that they coud add more cars, with these flat nosed ones, they dont have to do that anymore, but from what I've heard, a lot of people were really fond of the slanted cars more than these newer flat ones....

Yes. You can bring your bike on BART. Just remember to use your common sense when tugging it on during weekday rush hours. And you will need to use stairs and the wider turnstiles to let your bike on and off the station.
