Luger P08 byf 42 , a bit talking about the ammunition in 9mm

Watching this video, i feel it is kind of odd hearing the special procedures about buying ammo in Germany. I live in America and can think of stores that sell guns ammo and alcohol (a combination I don't recommend)

I've checked few ballistic charts for 9mm Luger and Magtech 8g seems to be good ammo for P08. It's rather lightly loaded. I've fired this ammo from my P08 Erfurt from 1918. It was fine.

P08 with the short 100 mm barrel is spect to shoot 350-400 m/s with 380m/s being usuall for 7.45g bullets. 9mm PARA NATO that is considered +P shoots 411m/s but from 125mm barrel and adding 25mm or one inch to a 4" barrel you get ~ 100 fps / 30 m/s more so it's the same thing, and more so in WW2 smgs were using realy hot 9mm... And shooting heavier 8+g bullets @ 360 m/s you also have a similar pressure. You have to avoid just the realy hot +P+ and +P++ loads, like 7.45g@ 430m/s from a 4-5" barrel or hotter.

i use normal cci blazer 124 gr ammo with my mismatched luger (byf frame, 1917 dwm barrel) and it seems to work fine so far. How much fps do u load ur ammo?

hi! sorry for the late answer, just not seen it. i "have to" buy fabric- ammo, cant do the re-loading-stuff, cause living in the Land of fancy paperwork ...lol ..so u need an extra-course/permition/extra-room(realy!) /test/ education with license in the end to do this legal here and to buy pure Powder/work with it.... perhaps i will do this in the future, but at the time i dont have enough time/ exotic calibers to jump through this burning wheels... i tried different 9mms , that, what was available up to now in the Shops around here (more to come next months ) .

@@Moggy73 oh i don’t reload 9mm either, i thought you did lol. I reload .223 and 30-06. For luger i buy ammo online. Danke schon! (ich studiere Deutsch fur zwei jahre aber ich bin nicht sehr gut lol)

modern Mec-Gar magazines seem to be the best reliable choice

u are right! just at the time i try to get one, wish me luck, because its not easy = most "sold out"...but i work on it;)
