Carmine is especially good in Lugia not just for its turn 1 allowance but because it draws fewer cards, leaving more energy in deck for Archeops to accelerate.

These type of videos are sick!!! Perfect for experienced players, since it lets us feel like we are all cooking in the lab with you. Also, perfect for beginners, for people first starting the game, these meta lists have so many tech cards, it's hard to understand what the lists are built for off game play alone. Deck building is half the game!!! This hits all the marks, and I can't wait to see more.

Lugia is the deck I have been playing in Japan lately, and the Ursaluna comes in clutch so many times late game. As long as you get set up early, this deck has so many options now.

You could play Future Hands or Iron Thorns. Both those decks have good Lugia matchups.

Love it. Was already happy with Lugia before the set dropped. Now Legacy Energy, Carmine, and Wellspring Ogerpon offer so much flexibility. Going 1st feels less awkward. Very excited to play Lugia in the new format.

I'll be honest, after you explained legacy energy, I've only been thinking about the Regi deck

Regis struggle so much nowadays without Scoop Up net, without VMAXes commonly in the format, with Turo and Collapsed and with many meta cards not having a weakness to them. The big plus Legacy Energy gives to Regis though is that you can recycle it. Even if it gets hammered away you can bring it back without having to rely on Cyllene. And you can get the prize denial effect once per game even if the energy was discarded before being activated.

Lugia is almost invincible when it sets up. But it's greatest problem is just that. The deck is still a casino in the first turns. Having to rely on things like capturing aroma, Mesagoza and great ball is just too unreliable.

I think one of its biggest problems was energy conservation. Sometimes to get set up Lugia would have to discard energy which would be needed to take down Zard ex. It's problematic when in Lugia of all things boss stranding an Archeops is more commonly a viable win condition. Now with Carmine you draw fewer cards so more energy stays in the deck. That plus the flexibility and prize denial offered by Legacy energy and the more consistent setup offered by Carmine means that two of its biggest problems have been minimized somewhat. I suppose its biggest problem now is that decks are teching against it.

It can still use Cincinno, basically playing like the current Lugia deck until it gets the Ace Spec. But it is definetely an issue.

I think it’s fair. You just need to focus on Cincinno and other colorless attackers. I also think the survival cast ace spec has some benefits too, though with the popularity of jamming tower and lost vacuum it might not be as good

​@@theoriginalzak2796the plus right now is that few decks are playing either of those cards. It seems fewer decks are including Lost Vacuum, especially not Dragapult, and I haven't seen a list that includes Jamming Tower yet.

@@ResidentKlinton yea I’m actually contemplating playing survival cast at my locals, I have a unique lugia deck list that it fits real nicely into. I’ve also been play testing the legacy energy list, and boy is it super strong, like really strong. There’s a reason it’s the most popular deck in Japan behind dragapult. Can’t wait either way
