Well, there is appeal to each take. With top!Marine you get a captain that's an assertive, confident predator while bottom!Marine has that slightly lonely but insatiable vibe that's nice in its own way. Similarly, top!Lui works because the entire design reinforces the image of a person in command that is haughty and looks down on others, but also has a hidden playful side, as opposed to bottom!Lui's appeal of a seemingly powerful and domineering evil executive suddenly becoming docile and submissive. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
