How wonderful that you had that connecting gift from your grandmother. Incredible story. I have my grandmother’s Bible which she read to me when I was a child. I can remember her reading the 23rd Psalm. When I saw that verse in her Bible after I was grown up I could see how well it was rubbed from the oil from her finger. She “highlighted” that for me. Since I have her Bible I’m the only one who would have noticed that. I’m 75 years old now and I know she instilled the love of reading and Scripture to me. You have such a tender heart. Thank you for sharing your “connecting story.”

Thank you for sharing the story about your family. I have very happy memories of my Oma and Opa and that was a way for your grandmother to let you know she is with you as you go through your creative process. I feel my father with me al of the time. I really love watching and appreciate you breaking down your process for us so it is not so intimidating to start our own creative journey. 😀

I adore how you encourage us to use what we have or have been gifted. If it stays in a drawer or cupboard no one gets enjoyment from it. It just sits and collects dust as does our creativity. I was once told it was gifted for me to be creative with and I am robbing myself and them by not using it.

I love your personal stories. Telling and showing the process you go through to get started was what I needed. The color and shapes etc. is what I normal would do. I don't have all the craft goodies that fit with each theme and frankly would not have room to store it all. I think I got stuck starting, because I didn't truly understand that I do have what I need, talent and creativity. Even though it is constantly repeated to use what you have material wise, I still thought I was not equipped! Finally, the lightbulb came on for me, I will be creating more for sure. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent and personal stories. I really do appreciate the extra time and effort you put in for us English speaking crafters. You are the best! Debra

Oh Debra, I can't thank you enough for your words! It makes me more than happy and a bit proud as well when there's something that is coming over to you... Sometimes it's so hard to decide what to talk about and what to show, of course everyone out there is thinking and feeling different. But... When I read your comment I know, we are in the same boat! Just start! I'm sure you will find your creativity!

WOW!! WOW!! I just have to lapse into stream of consciousness mode before I forget everything I want to respond to! Save the leaf from your grandmother in the book!! I’m still finding goodies that my father tucked in his books & I just love holding those objects for a moment, but I keep them there because there was a reason he put it there & I can go back & visit him whenever I want! Have you seen Tim Holtz’s newest color?! Prize-winning blue or something like that. It’s a luscious deep blue, perfect for this! I’m an old quilter, & I like to think that I know all about color, but you have opened my eyes to a new way of looking at color: You’re so right to boil it down to just the color regardless of context! Very illuminating! What else? I would love to be your neighbor & discuss all this over coffee (or maybe wine!)! Too bad we’re about 4000 miles apart ( I’m in Kansas, USA) Schade! I believe the stones are lapis lazuli, it is a beautiful color, again perfect for this journal! The jar labeled “fragments” is something like glitter or mica flakes. You can use glue or sticky powder or even very strong 2-sided tape to hold it in place. I don’t think it’s embossing powder, but I guess you could try embossing with it. Haha, that’s very sneaky to send it away as happy mail! I think it’s wonderful to have the picture of your father in there! I had no idea you could manipulate so many details when creating digi prints! That’s really fun! Du bist ein wunderkind, Luise! I’m glad you told the story of your name & I totally agree with your desire to not use an old married name, but what is your first name? I would love to at least think of you with that name. Oh, the straw stars! I had some that I got in Bonn in 1969, but they were lost along the way, probably in my divorce. They are very pretty & I will have to see if I can find some pics of them too! Many thanks! I’m not sure if I’m ready to jump in & try your journal, but it’s very enticing! It will be a fun journey! Guten nacht!

Your story of finding your grandmother's clipped paper treasure in her dictionary, gave me goose bumps! Like a special message thru time, via paper and books. So nice to feel she is still with you, still peering over your shoulder approvingly, watching you create. There's some special magic there, wow! I have been "collecting" items of all kinds for journal making but have yet to complete one! Too afraid to commit to tearing and gluing these special things down. You make me realize how silly that is! What am I waiting for? Don't know. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and emotions about the process. I am inspired.

Then I thought it would be great to see you go through the whole process of making a journal- so I started watching this series. It’s only the first one-and I know I’ll love all of them. I’m new at junk journaling- only been doing it a year and I never thought about the process of going through the different categories and making them really tie together-like you do. That is a very good lesson to learn! Also- how you make the journal personal-even though you might be giving it away or selling it. Thank you for the stories. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the series. Thank you Luise!!

Gorgeous! I loved the colors and feel of the book. Personally, since you asked, I do not care for the sewn pages. I think they detract from the feel of the piece. But to each their own of course. I like the pages juxtaposed in angles. I will be watching how you made this. (Tip: the word in English for a bunch of different images formed together is collage! 😀) your English is very good, even though you feel like you are struggling-we understand you well!

That was an interesting video, hearing about how you came up with your name and you love of family. That is sweet to hear that the picture of the little boy is your father. I have only made a few journals but I too try to find special things to put in them, things that they will know I was thinking of them as I made them. When you talked about coordinating the pages with different yet there is a connection reminds me of a game I have seen for sale. It is called OuiSi ( like Yes, Yes) cards are matched by the players, that have similar elements or colors. If you look it up you will see what I mean. I love hearing about your process and creating in a tiny space. I think many have the same issue. I really appreciate different ideas for working in a tight space and not getting overwhelmed. The stampendous cotton color flakes are an additive used when heat embossing. You can also mix them in with gel medium or modeling paste. Here’s a link to a lady demonstrating those products at CHA. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIGXq5tubN6efM0

Were you aware that TEMU is selling cards with your Ocean eyes mermaids and designs on them?

thanks for telling me, I already know that. Unfortunately there are more of my Designs on that platform, stolen from my shop. So sad. Even more sad that you don't have a chance to take those shops down.
