Hedo Turkoglu is spelled wrong. I know how to spell his name. Missed that somehow. Torkoglu is funnier though, let’s be real.
Luka Dončić is a 19-year-old hoops prodigy from Ljubljana, Slovenia with a bright, contagious personality and a supremely balanced skill set.
It's been said that Luka is the perhaps the greatest and most promising young player in the history of European basketball. Lofty expectations for a player, but nonetheless he's been on the radar and in the conversation for the #1 pick in 2018 for the last year or so. He's a point-forward-type with great size and a solid build at 6'8" and 225 pounds, and a very highly developed and keen sense for the game.

First off, this video aged very, VERY well. He's now averaging a near 30 pt triple double, 2nd in the MVP race, and the de facto leader of the Mavs. If I were an NBA scout/draft decision-maker, I'd be paying VERY close attention to your scouting reels. Secondly, you make the best basketball content on KZbin and it's a shame you don't have millions of subscribers yet.

This is quality content and I thank you for that. I'm just going to point out another great thing you just did in this video. Pronunciation. It's not the easiest name to pronounce and I'm not saying it's a mortal sin if you don't pronounce it 'correctly'. It's appreciated if one just tries. But for anyone wondering... Yes, this is how Luka Dončić is pronounced. (and the spelling also... Again, this is the correct way, but I'm not expecting this to catch on) So, thanks for going that little extra effort to get that right.

The Dime Drop is seriously the most underrated basketball (scouting) channel of all time. People need to wake up, subscribe and/or get this man a job in the NBA for a scouting role. People tend to say... because he is already so damn skilled his ceiling can't be that much higher. But that was like saying, Stephen Curry out of college is already such a great shooter. How much better can he get? Not saying it will definitely happen, but Luka can get so much better. And he is already the best player in Euroleague. Insane to think about... 19 yo kid damn

If he hits the gym, he could easily become faster and stronger; he'd dominate
@rg7535
@rg7535 5 жыл бұрын
That's not what they're saying. People say his ceiling isn't much higher than what he plays now because he's been through the hoops, so to speak (also no pun intended, but it did fit). When most college players get to the NBA, they haven't had any experience playing against the faster, stronger, more athletic, more skilled and better trained competition that you face in the pros, and you learn from that. Luka has been there though, and he's done that. His game is very close to the his ceiling right now, and pretty much the only thing he can do to improve some more is work on his body, but that also comes with some problems of its own, so the truth is, he's probably very close to his ceiling already, no matter what he does.
@andrewkear8000
@andrewkear8000 5 жыл бұрын
@@rg7535 you are not him, you don't know his ceiling. Stop putting labels on things as though you had inside info. You don't. Luka will show what he wants to show. His ceiling is what he decides.
@rg7535
@rg7535 5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewkear8000 It's much more likely that other people who are good at observing players and detecting skills and gaps in their game will know what his ceiling is than him. Trust me, I played college ball, and as far as I'm concerned, my ceiling was Steve Nash. Turns out I was wrong. Very few, if any, scouts or front office people involved in this type of decision making would disagree with me. He's very close to his ceiling right now, and I gave you the main reasons why. If you don't want to believe that, fine, you'll just have to wait a few years to know what we already know. By the way, suggesting he gets to decide what his ceiling is was hilarious. Might be the dumbest statement I've read online all year, and the competition was really strong.

well let mi tell you this . any euroleague team would beat any college team easy ( talking 20 , 30 , 40 points even ) . luka ? luka is dominating those teams .hes is undisputed mvp in all competitions this year ( except eurobasket , where he was all team , playing against guys like porzingis - 25 points , brothers gasol and rubio - made 23 points and so on ). in last two years he made a huge step forward in all os his skills , so i dont see any problem doing it in years to come . dont forget , he is still developing fizically . some say his slow in lateral movements . a different type of trainigs that luka will get in nba will certainly fix that . put any other draft contender in euroleague basketball , you will see the different playing bball against your age or older guys . so , i dont understand US analysts , comparing luka with guys like miličič , bargnani , rubio . those guys warent even close to whts luka is doing right now , and he can only be better . his ceiling ? only the sky is his ceiling . he will be the steal of the draft im shure ... by the way , great video . greetings from slovenia

Once again brother you hit the nail right on the head. I’ve watched a ton of his tape & his only flaw, if you even want to call it that is his perimeter shooting. The way he scores, especially off of p&r reminds me of fultz last year. & his court vision is almost at Ben Simmons level, minus the flash. Whether he goes 1 or 2 he’ll flourish imo

I have made a case for Luka Doncic being the best player in the draft for the past year now. He jumps out on significantly on film, not only will he come into the league & already be a top 5 passer. In my opinion, in the right system year one, he can be an all-star. If I’m Phoenix I’m picking Doncic; he has the intangibles that don’t come around too often for a kid coming out of the draft. Doncic is a 6’8 230 pound PG who can play 4 positions; that stand out!! I will make this prediction. If Phoenix selects Deandre Ayton they will be happy.. but not satisfied. Ayton has the potential to be a perennial all star in his own right, but isn’t as well rounded & polished as Doncic. Phoenix will regret not choosing Doncic when it’s all said & done. Doncic has the talent to change Phoenix whole roster & if chosen #1 to Phoenix, his rookie stat line will at least be the following: 17 ppg 8ast 6 red 1.3stl .7 blk Doncic is the truth, people who don’t know need to jump on board now. He will be one of the next superstars in the NBA.

Voltaire idk about that, like I said he’s pretty big given his age and the fact that he can play point guard though small forward, and plus he runs down the court pretty fast in transition. He kinda reminds me of wbat Lonzo was supposed to be right out of college, not a very explosive athlete but athletic enough. Hes got great IQ and vision along with accuracy in passing. Hes good at threes but its easy to see he gets so much attention from defenses so when he makes the NBA players will give him less attention and he will get better. Other than that, I too think that Luca is the best pick for a team who needs a ballhandler and a better offensive disposition. By the way: Big ups to my southern neighbours! Thomas S To be fair Lonzo's shot mechanics were broken since highschool and was a major concern going into the NBA. Conversely, Doncic's fundamentals are great and he has decent size. Furthermore, the transition stress entering the NBA should be less for him than the attention lonzo had with his skillset. If doncic needs time to adjust; due to his skillset he won't bleed on the court but rather just be solid. He's a very safe pick even if stuff goes wrong.

This kid is legit and the next big star in the league. I'm a Suns fan and pretty sure they'll draft Ayton as the #1 pick, but wish they would pair Booker up with this kid and transform into the splash brothers 2.0. Great video and analysis as usual....I'm a fan of your videos and already subscribed. Keep up the great work!

It’s kinda funny how Luka and Booker now have a heated rivalry when they could have been a dynasty together
