Jamal Murray is a stud who has only failed to make an all-star game because of his injuries. Aaron Gordon is one of the better role players in the NBA. I would even classify him as a fringe all-star. And MPJ and KCP ate nice role players. They're not a super team, but that's a solid roster. In today's NBA, since super teams is not really a thing anymore (thank god), having 1 superstar, 1 star, 1 fringe all-star, and a bunch of solid role players is about as good as you can hope for. Luka doesn't really have that. Lively is very promising, and can hopefully become a star in the coming years. And Luka does have Kyrie as the 2nd star, but Kyrie has missed half the games, and we don't even know if it's injury related or what. Outside of that, no one on the team stands ou. @@DammitBobbyNBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke to former basketball star Kevin Garnett about his reasoning for implementing rule changes over the last few seasons. The league leader claims that it was in the best interest of the game. He says physicality was hindering the NBA’s top skill players from performing at a high level on the court, and that a lack of offensive output was causing fans to lose interest. To address these issues, Silver and Co. made a few rule changes that have undoubtedly benefitted offensive players. While his intentions might’ve been in the right place, the commissioner admits that it gave some players the ability to legally exploit opponents. When talking to KG in an interview for Showtime, he discussed the changes, the drawbacks, and the response to those negative aspects. “There was a point, I believe, you know probably in the late nineties when the game became too physical,” Silver says. “I think for our fans, we lost some of the aesthetic enjoyment of the game. It de-emphasized the particular skill a player had and maybe weighted too heavily on physicality, where a big, strong player could come in and prevent an incredibly skilled player from doing those kinds of things.” The commissioner would go on to single out superstar Steph Curry, who’s one of the league’s most skilled scorers and ball handlers. He says that if guys could just “bang him and knock him to the ground,” it would limit his ability to shoot and to move around in the paint. This was in late 2023. Yes players are more skilled but we can easily tone it down, just as easily we can also fabricate offense to be even better than it actually is. If defenders arent allowed to play defense, they'll give up at some point and it turns into a slightly serious All Star game.

Larry would average 40 in today’s game. Jordan would be unstoppable. Today’s defense in the NBA is kinda a joke. Guys collect paychecks and don’t want to get hurt. MJ would do nothing, he was a free throw merchant with no 3 point shooting game. Larry is a worse Luka and hes injury prone. Accept reality, todays players are better and a super skilled offensive player beats any defense. You dont even know what you are babbling about, Jordan didnt even know how to shoot 3s. Luka made 8-13 3s with a hand in his face. Players today are more skilled and more well rounded, theres no defending them.

Unpopular opinion as a Mavs and Luka fan but...who cares about 73 points? Seriously why is this relevant? For an MVP debate? Who cares about the MVP? What matters are rings and thre our outlook is bleak and it is also because of Luka. I have the feeling most US americans have become so illiterate they do not know what MVP stands for, it does NOT stand for most Stat heavy player but in fact most VALUABLE player. The efficiency was crazy and I was basically rock hard the entire time but it is only one game. What makes the most valuable player valuable is that your team is doing great in the standings (which we don't) and you are the dominant star in that team but also elevate all players around you to make the team go to new heights like Giannis, Nash, Dirk, Jordan, Jokic did. Because of this firstly players in superteams shouldn't become MVP anyways (e.g Miami Heat 06, the Curry Durant Warriors or Brooklyn Nets with the three stooges) as in most instances you are never really the first option to begin with (the Heat 06 could win games without Wade or James). Secondly though, it means you must be successful otherwise I can make a case for multiple great players on a terribly performing teams because of their stats, just because you are a stat checker does not make you valuable. And as a Mavs fan I ask have you looked at out games? The defense is horrendous and the offense is nothing but Iso ball and it stands and falls with it. Yes Luka was cooking like a maniac yesterday but there were at least 5 times he made a 3pointer where a teammate was wide open and had the easier shot, so how is this good basketball or elavating your team? If he would have thrown bricks you would be cooking him for these plays and sadly the efficiency he displayed can't be done over 80+ games. I know it can work (Kobe) but if your entire team get's no shots obviously nobody else will be able to get hot over the course of the game, the whole star player dominates for the team is a tightrope and I feel like we have definitly gone too far. Is Luka valuable for us? YES without him we wouldn't win games but his play style also has yet to make us super successful in the season. In a playoff series we can always win due to him but over a season we never were able to dominate because he plays mostly for himself, over a series this can work but it doesn't get you anywhere long term over the course of a season. I'd rather see him have 30points but 15-20 assists than 73points. And most importantly I'd rather see my team win than give a shit about stats to begin with. Giannis & Jokic, Jordan, Kobe can dominate a game as well, but they give their team more in terms of defense and more importantly balance of the game. Next to these players there are always other players shining, in our franchise it's always only him that is no coincidence. He is my favorite player, he may be this years MVP but one thing sadly is for sure he and also we will never win a ring playing like this.
@Sscr4pped.4 ай бұрын
jokic just won a ring by playing like this, same with almost every finals mvp ever. Idk what your smoking but luka is built to be a finals mvp with enough help.

@Sscr4pped.4 ай бұрын
and 30-15 is not gonna win you the game, that 75 created points at most. Luka created a minimum of 87 points in that game. And te warriors might win without durant or curry, but the heat don't, and the nets was a failure bc of harden and ben simmons. Also luka is one of the best teamates in the league, even his teamates say they score so much easier bc he gets them open looks and he is already a top 5 passer in the league
@s0uldr4ke314 ай бұрын
@@Sscr4pped. I don't know what kind of finals series or even playoffs you watched but Jokic did not win his ring by playing like this. He was super efficient yes, but his strength always has been to integrate other people in his teams. Murray was going off, Aaron Gordon was popping at times, KPJ and everybody was cooking at times, the reason was because Jokic opened up the game for them with his dominance but then used said dominance to involve his team in the offense more often than not. When you look at a Mavs game in comparison aside from somebody passing Luka the ball in the own half there can be multiple posessions where nobody aside from Luka in the Mavericks team even touches the ball! Show me one game of the Joker in his playoff series (feel free to give me a time stamp) where 3 possessions in a row are solely played through him with a maximum of 10 contacts of his teammates in this timespan. Because there were multiple of these instances not just in yesterdays game (e.g the last 3minutes of the 2nd half if I remember correctly) with Luka. Jokic and Luka are vastly different players.
@s0uldr4ke314 ай бұрын
@@Sscr4pped. it's not about the number of assists those were just numbers I pulled out of my arse to hammer down my point (I said in the same sentence I do not care for stats) it's about getting your team involved in helping you win. Listen man I am not illusional and stand here like Kobe critics were when he had a shitty squad and accused him to be an egotistical idiot, I am happy we have the guy especially as a fellow european. But fact is while this video called his teammates bad, Grant Williams was at 50% he only was given 3 3pt attempts the whole game, Exum was 2 for 2 on 3pt he was open multiple times but Luka just didn't pass the ball. Are there better teammates out there, sure there are especially on the defensive side but this is miles away from the team quality Kobe had to work with, Luka needs to get players like Williams, Exum and Green more involved and he would profit off this as well because then he wouldn't be so out of breath so he could actually be a better defender.

@imdbtruth4 ай бұрын
You're the one buying into the manufactured narrative. 73 points on 76% shooting is unreal in any era. What made Kobe's 81 point game possible? Maybe the fact that he jacked up 46 shots and he was stat padding until the last seconds of the game with the Lakers up big. And maybe also because Kobe had a (post merger) record 10 games in his career where he attempted over 40 shots. Luka meanwhile has never even attempted over 33 shots in a game, he's only attempted 30 or more shots 10× in his career. Kobe meanwhile once MISSED 30 shots in a single game. In fact all of the top-5 spots for most missed shots in a game are all held by Kobe Bryant. Kobe had 25 games of 50+ in his career, he only shot 60% or better in 6 of those games. Luka has 7 career games of 50+, he has also shot over 60% in 6 of them. If we're taxing players, we should tax the chuckers first. But you can't eff with 73 on 76%!
