Let's not pretend it was just the media. Everybody was sucking him off like crazy. The problem with the NBA is that narratives are made and flipped on a game to game basis and fans are responsible for that as much as, if not even more than the media. The Nuggets series showed it perfectly: first 2 games, Ant is god descended and Jokic is a fraud; Denver wins three in a row and suddenly Ant is ass and Jokic is showing why he's the best player in the world and the Wolves are done; then they win the series and Ant is back to god-like status (despite shooting 6-24), while people question the validity of Jokic's 3 MVP. Now that the Wolves are down 0-2 and Edwards is playing bad, everybody's backpedaling like crazy. I guarantee you, if somehow Minnesota finds a way to win, everybody will be back slurping his dick even if he has the worst stretch of games of his career. @gungadin96867 ай бұрын
Gobert was that high because the drop defense didn't work. Problem is you can't blitz Luka or take him high. Luka is a NFL lineman playing point guard. He is every bit 6'8". He is wide. He is a lot bigger than he appears on TV. He can pass over a lot of blitzes and he is fast enough to take bigger people off the dribble. I was hoping Minnesota would beat Denver for this very reason. Dallas matches up with Minnesota a lot better than Denver.
@zackrodriguez75197 ай бұрын
Thank you, that's the reason Dallas won last game. You have to pick him up high but if you do, there's a wide open roller. And if you don't, you give Luka Doncic a wide open pull up or floater because he's too wide for defenders to get back in front. And if help comes to tag the roller or flood his side of the court, he will find the wide open man every single time. Truly an unguardable player

@HC-xk1iq7 ай бұрын
@@yvans. Then why Ant and KAT didn’t show up?
@zackrodriguez75197 ай бұрын
@@yvans. they didn’t show up last game either. Some things aren’t trends, they are results and outcomes. Kat has historically shrunk in playoff situations against good half court defenses. Ant can’t find any lane to penetrate inside which is why he’s jacking up 3s. What’s even more concerning is that the #1 defense in the league allowed near 70% fg% on 2s because they couldn’t guard kyrie and Luka in the mid range in their drop coverage, and because they couldn’t stop the dunker or roller in blitz coverage. The mavs can’t even hit a 3 point shot this series either, so when that game comes it will be dangerous because the help won’t be able to leave the shooters, leaving Minnesota in a 2 on 1 every possession. You don’t have to be impressed either, they are playing Xs and Os basketball, not flashy aau style. Yes there have been far superior teams, but are any of them in the western conference playoffs right now? So why does that matter

Minesotas defense doesnt really work on Luka. Although hes slow like Jokic, athletic bigs and forwards dont slow him down.

He's got one key thing over Jokic, and that's his handles. He fucking finessed Rudy.

This is what parity looks like. When the competition is good, it always falls to strengths and weaknesses of the matchup. This series will come down to Gobert not being great against PNR-heavy teams. This is why Murray struggling to create space was a big deal. Also, offensively, Rudy is all of the liability Aaron Gordon was in the last series. They have to get creative and find a way to take defensive attention away from Ant Man. Not too much movement offball.

I know that Ant and KAT haven't played great and the games have been close but the thing that should be really worrying for Wolves fans is that the Mavs role players have really shot badly from 3 in the first 2 games. As a team they shot 24% in game one and still won and in game 2 pretty much nobody but Luka and Kyrie could make one. If PJ and DJ Jr even have half decent shooting in game 3, it'll take a great game from KAT or Edwards just to keep up. I get the feeling this series ends with a Luka 40 in game 5.

When you look at the mavs and wolves wide open 3 point percentage it is an embarrassment that this first games are close. When they would make them at least according to their season averages this games should not be that close

I expect Wolves will make some adjustments for the next two games in Dallas.But on the other hand i expect Mavs role players,especially PJ and Jones will be able to make some 3pointers to make it easier for the Mavs.We all know that role players play better at home.

It's by the design , why conley and naz reid or mcdaniels shooting well , they let role players beat them .. if you crowded the paint ,the only option is to shoot threes. You got KAT and ANT that are paint scorers/ slashers threats . Mavs giving them wide open three,and they hoped they choke it at the end of the game .. That's what you are seeing

A few things: 1. Luka has for the most part cooked most of the NBA in international play at some point in his career. Especially Rudy Colbert. 2. As a Mavs fan who has watched mini games, we have not played to our potential, not even close. Our three-point shooting at elite level when it’s on. And you know what they say role-play play better at home. I fully expect a barrage of threes when they come back to Dallas. 3. Lastly, Jason kid has not put out our full defensive package and I think he’s saving a lot of it in his back pocket for when it’s absolutely necessary so there’s my two cents. Good luck .

Luka made the WCF in his fourth season at age 22 Edwards made the WCF in his fourth season at age 22 as well. Dallas made some moves and improved that 2022 roster. If the ownership struggle doesn't oust Tim Connelly I trust him to tweak the roster and compete for years to come as well. But still *WOLVES IN 7* im with my team until the end 💪

Gobert didn't even glue on Luka. I don't understand how he took the left leg bait just before the step down 3, Luka has no burst ability to guard him one feet away pretending that he is Kyrie or something.

Minnesota are not aggressive enough on offense... especially Ant. Towns needs to play in more. I always see him on the perimeter. Rudy severely offense. Minnesota are in trouble. When they need a basket, they cant go to no one...not even Ant. That's where their main issue lies. They don't have a closer.
@darkvader20247 ай бұрын
Aggressive Towns = turnovers. If he doesn't have a mismatch, his post ups aren't going to go that great in this series. Ant, however, does need to be aggressive

even tho I'm not a mavs fan. when it's over then it's over. maybe the fans will pay for one "W" for twolves. but dallas is ripping them apart. n dallas bench is way deeper then twolves.

At the start of the season people laughed at me when I said Mavs really have a shot to win it all. Then we got the BIG MEN and I was sure we could. ( being honest I'm a Laker fan 1st but I've been rocking with Mavs since Nash, Dirk, and Finley) Now people seeing what I saw from the beginning.
@PatrickSchafer-df1rj7 ай бұрын
Lets talk about Luka's and especially Kyrie's defense. They were always criticized for that. I feel like Denver would be a worse match up for the Mavs, i even go as far as to say Minnesota is the only team that is able to get through the Nuggets. But the Mavs are a really bad match up for Wolves. Tbh am not a Gobert hater but it was and is clear that he has his limits if you put him in certain situations. If the Timberwolves keep Rudy in drop coverage he is borderline unplayable in this series. Also they get abit of their own medicine, Lively and Gafford and even PJ outhustle KAT, Rudy and Naz in the post. The paint is packed, they take Ant's ability to drive from him alot, so they end up relying on Naz Reid having prime Klay Johnson games from deep.
