So many things could have been said as they went down those stairs, though. The friends may have told him to wait out front while they settled the tabs, and he didn't. Riley may have been saying, "No worries, I'm fine. I'll just meet you back at the hotel." If all of the friends were in the same inebriated state as Riley, maybe nobody was thinking clearly and they really though he'd be OK. It's such a tragic story, my heart breaks for his family, and all who were with him that night. They must have such guilt. This is a lesson for all that you make sure someone in the group is 100% sober and the group doesn't split up, no matter what.

I was a bartender manager security the whole 9 for 14 years in Nashville if a customer ended up at my bar regardless of howmany other venues they were at! That person was now my responsibility!!! I would drive them home myself or get them an Uber!!! These bars get you drunk then kick you out or call police which my thoughts are BS!!! Laws need to change!! Bar establishment to make sure these tourists get back to there hotel safely and dont just kick them out there not in there right minds when intoxicated

Why would the bar call an uber? They will call a taxi if the person asks, but you have to have an uber account to call an uber. The bar isn't going to pay to get you home and isn't going to keep you from leaving the bar. If they do, it's false imprisonment.

I saw the statement that Luke had released early on. Reaching out to the family is nice, but in my opinion, it is long overdue. I understand he had to keep working--he had released a new song or was working on one. He was in the news for something work related while the search was going on for Riley. I wish he had attended the vigil or offered to meet with the family privately. Maybe legally he was not allowed. I think he could have offered to put up money for people to come forward. I am glad the family is happy about Luke reaching out. Personally, I think it is to repair damage done to his bar since the case has brought a lot of publicity. Riley told his friend who followed him to the exit that he was going back to the hotel, and his friend blindly trusted Riley. Odds are all of the guys were intoxicated so none of them really thought of following him. That friend probably still has a tab open too. From what I heard there wasn’t much audio so who knows what was said. I’m trying to keep an open mind on his fraternity brothers. They did make some bad decisions but odds are they all have been drinking for most of the day so they probably didn’t think on following him at all. The bar could have told more than Riley to leave, not just Riley or even ensure that he had a ride. The staff were more sober than any of the guys in the fraternity that night.

I think the fraternity has their hands in this.. somehow! Their silence smells of guilt! Riley's family should get a list of his "friends" that were with him & "out" them.. let the media start in on them.. put some reporters & cameras in their face & see their reactions.. that'll tell us all we need to know.

@@kathyb9390 The only thing they did was stop to pay their bar tabs. Riley wouldn't wait for them and took off. He was an adult and he bears all responsibility for getting drunk and falling into the Cumberland.

@@LunaLapin-ho5tk I have never seen anyone speak of the dead the way you do. Riley can't defend himself but you love lashing out about him. I don't believe he just fell into the Cumberland. The truth will come out in time. The only thing I have to say to you now is STOP trashing Riley. He was young and made some bad choices, but he didn't just fall into the Cumberland on his own. His parents are right to stay on this the way they are.
