If you are right about the offensive coach sticking to his "system" and making minor adjustments based on personnel then the Raiders will fail again on offense. A great coach will adjust his system to match his personnel and then adjust his game plan from game to game and during a game as well. We saw the results of a "system" coach with McDaniels.

Tom Brady got McDaniels TWO head coaching jobs he didn’t deserve. He’s been an epic failure whenever Brady wasn’t his quarterback. Brady was the reason for the Patriots success. Teams don’t even want to hire Belichick now because they realize Brady was the main reason for the Patriots success.

Well Josh McDaniels had a system that evidently he wasn't changing for anyone. Sometimes you have to design towards your players to a point or go down with the ship as McDaniels did. RAIDERS have to many options to fail. So my full trust is in Getsy. We'll be more than surprising this year. Mark my words on that.

@@jermainemarshall4575 That often happens with coaches who like to script their plays like JM. Hopefully our offense is diverse enough to not be predictable. I do know we will run the ball better.
@KennyP999417 ай бұрын
I think it was a fantastic question. Coaches that cannot adapt and change a playbook are not good coaches. We dealt with McDaniels that could not change. . If Getsy would run the same offense with Lamar Jackson and Tom Brady he will be a failure. A OC needs to design an offense to the strengths of the offense. If running the balls is the strength, then you run the ball. If you have a running QB then you design an offense like the Eagles. Bringing in Brock Bowers does change a playbook. If we plan on running 12 personal most of the time, we need more plays of 12 personal. Bowers will have to learn more than one position, which is difficult for a rookie especially a tight end. I'm losing convince in Getsy by the day. If we would have drafted Jaydon Daniels, we would be tuning the same offense as with AOC. Two completely different QB with two completely different skill sets. And OC that would have the same playbook for both QB is one o the main reasons young QB's fail.

Did you really think Getsy was going to be forthright about his entire offense in a mini-camp and OTA interview?

And AOC was not nearly as immobile in college as he was with the Raiders last year he's not an elite athlete or anything but got around in the pocket just fine in school. I'm starting to think a lot of these negative armchair GMs never watched any of his college games and are just pontificating from their rectums after watching a 7 minute highlight film. I'm not saying I know he's going to be a good pro QB but i'm not saying it's impossible either he does have a good arm and he's accurate it's his decision making ability i'm not sure about not his arm talent. Ironically in college it wasn't him being limited or conservative that was the problem it was his bombs away approach and too many negative plays. I still think he has a shot if he can limit his negative plays and has an offense with some balance last year we couldn't run the ball and we had to keep TEs, RBs and had to max-protect way too often that's why i don't put too much into PFFs o-line rankings there are way too many variables and the eye test showed us how untrue our ranking was.

The 12 personnel sets are going to give teams big problems. Bowers will be tough to cover as TE or slot WR
@jameshannagan42567 ай бұрын
Yes but in order for that to work BB has a awful lot to learn for a rookie at a position that most rookies struggle to learn in their first year or two. The TEs that usually do better early are the ones that don't have a lot on their plate in the first year that's why i'm trying to lower my expectations for Bowers in his rookie year but the payoff if he gets it early will be huge because teams do struggle with 12 as long as one of the TEs are a real offensive threat.

How much of an asset will Philbin be as Getsy installs and develops his offense?
@eatupsidedown7 ай бұрын
You call plays to exploit the advantages your players have. Andy Reid is a genius because he adapts and changes depending on his personnel. The Nfl needs flexible offensive minds, thats why everyone hires these young offensive coaches. I think your playbook DOES change dramatically when you have a weapon like Adams/Hill/Kelce/Jefferson/Debo etc. A coaches job is to put players in the best positions, not to fit players into a scheme.
@jameshannagan42567 ай бұрын
Andy has run the same offense for years it's just diverse enough to take advantage of different types of players but he runs a lot of the same playe he ran with the Eagles. He's just a great coach period and he would have won big with the Eagles but QB play limited what he could do that and a weird blitz-happy defense that worked great most of the time until they played teams that could pick up blitzes.
