That's exactly right. It felt forced and out of character, like he was trying too hard. It was masterful how Luke did that because you could see he was trying to blend in and play that character. It's such a world within a world within a world ❤

Idk I think he played it well, we just need to trust. They wanted us to feel uncomfortable because it didn't feel like him and we did. All the info we needed, we received. From there it's our job to know it was purposeful.

Oh, I fast forwarded through those scenes. I felt the so repulsed by them because it was 100% gratuitous. There was more intimacy in the scene where Pen begs him to kiss him once because she was afraid she would die alone.

I loved the ickiness though, because it just showed very obvi that he was putting on a false persona! I agree that it just made it even more apparent that with Pen and his family he was still his lovable, kind, sweet, vulnerable self that they knew and loved! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

To be honest, the ones that gave me the ick was the prostitute bits and not all of the flirtation because I feel really exposed because he goes. “Oh you are wallflowers in bloom. I can’t believe that you dance cards aren’t full.” That is totally me when someone says to me, oh hi how are you? I’m like all the best for seeing you and just brings a smile to someone’s face and in some of the gentler ones such as flirtation that I’ve just named he’s actually bigging them up and he’s known as a kind hearted guy yes he kind of a flirt but not to the heavy extreme. And yeah, so mine was actually the prostitute scenes because I was like excuse me no no no no no no that’s all for Pen but I do understand it because that was seen as a rite of passage for a boy to become a man and that’s what older brother used to do for the younger brothers and fathers to their sons so they had some idea of what they were doing.

It is pretty noticeable how Colin softens up whenever he's with Penelope, even if they're still out in public. And Pen didn't have to be so guilty with what she wrote about him as Whistledown because she wasn't wrong about it being a façade lol

I have heard them in interviews and supposedly he was really trying to portray how he was kind of out of touch with himself and lost. But honestly, they didn’t do a good enough job at making that very clear. It felt more like as an audience were supposed to just accept that all guys are part douche.
