I know the fandom ships them irl big time, but I, for one, really love to see the friendship these two have, and not think about lovey-dovey stuff. It is possible to have a friendship with the opposite sex, but we always make it so awkward, no wonder we're drooling over Nicola and Luke having this awesome chemistry. I mean, if you have a best friend with whom you can work, feel comfortable with, and all the other things (while being a shy person, or introverted), that means the world. They have taken the world by storm, and their chemistry has made us swoon because #goals. I love them so, so much, and june can't come fast enough.

I know there's a very very strong friendship between them, but, I do think that getting intimate with each other has changed their friendship to some degree, cause there's a level of physical chemistry between them that you only see in people who've been "together" together. Nic and Luke keep saying what they experienced was very different from anything they've known and that they felt very sad when it ended. While I don't think they were ever more than friends, I'm sure, to an extent, it must have all felt like an alternative universe where they actually were together for the eight months of shooting. They had the same vanity van, and makeup artists, and would often take breaks together in the middle of shoots, would practice their kissing scenes in their free time, she would cook him his favourite foods, etc. I think that's what everyone is picking up on. I'm not saying they'll get together, but I wouldn't be shocked if they do in the future, cause they've already experienced something of that nature together.

@@starsign0805 I agree with you. I don't think they were ever more than friends either but the intense nature of the show makes lines kind of blurry. It's kind of like having a 'work husband' but in an even more intimate way because of how sexy the show is and how much you are acting out intense romantic stuff. They have actually done studies on love and proximity and looking into each others eyes etc can trigger intense attachment feelings so I don't doubt they got really close in that way, and that also explains their intense chemistry. I believe that Luke has a new gf right now so I really don't think it's in the cards for Luke and Nicola romantically any time soon. As close as they are, I am not sure that they are really each other's type maybe? I'd like to be proven wrong though, lol. And maybe due to the age gap too, who knows. (No shade on age gaps, I myself am with a guy 10 years younger than me, lol, but I know that some people are really not into the woman being older and that's fine). I agree with you, though, if they ever get together one day I think it will be in future when all this is over with the hindsight of them dating other people etc. Kinda like Colin and Pen, really.

I think it's the opposite actually. I think he is extremely comfortable with Nicola and even attracted to her, but after all the interviews it looks like she is literally his truest source of comfort and she is almost in love with him, but I think he doesn't believe in a happy relationship and wouldn't want to lose her over trying....but of course can't tell for sure....But it's their body language she is always leaning in and looking at him all lovingly....and whenever he is uncomfortable or stressed or whatever his hand is looking for her like a blanky...she boosts his confidence and self worth but that's not a good scenario for a romantic relationship In my opinion.

I get the sense that Nicola really likes Luke as more than a friend in real life. The way she looks at him and hangs on his every word is very telling, in my opinion. I am not sure Luke realizes what's going on here, but all those laughs, hugs, leaning in, and doting by her are tell-tale that she'd be with him in real life if she thought it would be reciprocated.

I also got that feeling, though keep in mind Nicola is super super bubbly and if you see her with her other co-stars she is all over them too, very intimate and personable etc. In their vanity fair (I think) interview with Luke T there, the green eyes bit, Nicola was all up out of her chair staring into his eyes. I remember the comments were all like 'wow they should do a romcom spinoff with Luke T, too' lol. So I think partly Nicola just gives off flirty vibes in general and is extremely extrovert and personable. So it could be that she is into him or it could be that she's just a flirt. But I agree, she absolutely leans into the flirting with him (asking him to send her a pic etc). I'm not too sure if she would be with him if it were reciprocated. Maybe, who knows. There is an age gap there which might play a part in them not getting together either (I personally don't think that's a big deal, I myself am in a relationship with a guy 10 years younger than me but I know some people don't like dating older women) so who knows. I do kinda get the feeling that despite how cute he is with her, he isn't into her in that way. He obviously likes her a lot though, but I get kinda sisterly/brotherly vibes off him. I would love to be proved wrong though!

Omg yes. Thank you finally someone is seeinf what i am seeing! I feel totally like she likes him more. There are so many things i can point out : she is gifting him sweaters, remebering every little detail etc. She is hugging him a lot, every chance she is getting. Sometimes i feel that is why luke is talking very little in interviews cause he does not want to give Nicola more opportunities. But that is just my opinion. Maybe he does not realise it. (Often i look for cluse if he likes her back but i doubt it. He is doing it for the fandom). And yes Nicola is very bubbly but it is not quite the same with other actors. Honestly i can kind of understand her. The did kiss and make out. The make out scene also felt very intimt, maybe a bit too intimit.
