First of all: hello to you and Mama Trish. So happy to see her and get to know her reactions 🥰 greetings from Hamburg to both of you 🌸💖 What an evening… so much going different than in the odds 😅🙈 A bit sorry for Croatia, but really happy for Nemo (such a sweetheart, just look at the heartfelt reaction to their win 🥹). Really proud of Isaak, he got the (jury) recognition he deserved for his voice and performance. Glad for Armenia to finish 8th. They brought pure joy to the stage, 🤩 Bambi giving Nemo their „crown of thorns“ after the win… and Nemo keeping it on during the final performance 🥹 this is unity, this is what Eurovision should be about 💖 Nemo being so enthusiastic, they broke the trophy 🙈😅 Didn’t expect Estonia to be that low. Can’t wrap my head around the fact that our german jury gave Sweden 12 points… in which universe eüdid they have the best performance (from a jury standpoint)… just No… Happy for Ukraine to come third. As for Israel: I won’t talk about politics or discuss if they should have been banned or not, just reacting to the entry itself here…. I really like her song and she has an incredibly beautiful voice. Therefore I’m glad for her as a person to have a good result. Nevertheless I’m glad it didn’t win. On one hand because it wasn’t the best of all entries in my opinion. And on the other hand, because it would have been really awkward to have the contest in Israel at this time, I just can speculate how many countries could refuse to participate 🫣

Yay! I was hoping we’d get to see Mama Trish at least once this year. I watched the show tonight at my mom’s house with my mom, sister, and niece. My sister made pizza croissants to eat during it. My sister and mom are definitely the casual viewers. And due to a medical emergency late last year, my mom doesn’t currently drive so I am the one driving her, my sister, and niece (sister and niece don’t drive) to and from work, etc, but have to drive my mom’s car (Honda CRV) as my car (Honda Civic) sits too low for my mom to get in and out of. In my car I have a USB port that allows me to play music via my phone through my car speakers and so would normally listen to Eurovision songs via playlist. My mom’s car doesn’t have that option. So that means my mom and sister were coming into to the show without even having heard the songs whereas my niece had heard them because she listened to them on her own on Spotify. Only I had watched the semifinals. So that’s the context you need to understand what I say about their reactions to the show. My mom’s favorite of the night was Portugal. Everyone was quiet during each performance, but usually said something afterwards. My mom said after Portugal performed that she found the song interesting and the performance itself as beautiful. My sister disagreed saying she found it incredibly boring, so yeah the two casual viewers had different takes. My sister’s favorite was Germany. She said something similar to Mama Trish about his voice. She liked his voice and found the performance overall interesting. My niece went into this rooting for Croatia and Ireland and Ireland ended up as her favorite of the two upon seeing their performances. Going into it I, too, had changed my mind about Ireland. While I’m still not a fan of the song itself with just audio, the performance was creative, visually interesting, and felt like watching a movie. It was so artsy and I just feel like it’s a whole package: like you can’t have the visuals without the music or vice versa, it’s powerful and emotive when combined. I would have been thrilled if they had won the contest this year, solely because Ireland brought pure art this year to the contest and challenged us all to think beyond radio friendly pop music. Switzerland was definitely the one we all agreed upon in different ways that we liked it to some degree. For me it had moved into my #2 favorite along with Croatia (#1) and France (#3). You cannot even begin to imagine how I felt when all three popped up during the voting reveal segment and the hosts said “one of these three is going to be the winner.” I only learned about Eurovision in 2015 and have been watching it live since 2016. I’m an American (who speaks to varying degrees of fluency English, French, Spanish) and a pretty quirky one at that (I’ve been listening to Kpop music, among other types of international genres, since the early 2000s, watched Bollywood films in the late 1990s/early 2000s, etc and am used to fellow Americans rolling their eyes at me whenever I go on and on about something I like that’s totally not popular here if it’s even known here….one friend called me “an early fan of things” due to the current rise in popularity of Bollywood and Kpop over the last decade here in the US) so none of my top favorites has ever won. I was both elated (my top three!!!) and conflicted (ugh only one of these three can win and now I don’t know which one to cheer on!). Anyways, I’m thrilled Switzerland won! For my niece, she’s happy for the win since it seems like Nemo and Bambi have become best friends over the course of the season and she liked the song and performance. My mom was kinda meh about the song, but liked their performance and their outfit. My sister likes the song, but the performance was a tiny bit triggering for her since as a kid she fell off a seesaw and also fell off a playground merry-go-round. She said it triggered the same “protective mom” feelings she had anytime my niece would play on those things at the park and so the performance made her a tad bit anxious. But she likes the song and was happy they won. Love that Rocky got a cameo. My mom’s dog (a husky) Dominique had been in the house with us while we watched the show, too. He mostly laid on the floor and slept. My sister said he had been outside for several hours prior to me coming over (I showed up thirty minutes before the show as I got stuck sitting at a railroad crossing…my town has lots of them and since it’s a hub where trains switch sometimes trains get backed up and stalled causing traffic to come to a standstill for a bit). He woke up a few times whenever my niece’s cat (Jisung) was trying to get into something he shouldn’t to usually bark at my niece to alert her. The look her cat sometimes gave him when he tattled on him was definitely humorous. I don’t think he’s used to getting caught like that, especially from a dog. Lol Great video! I thought it was a strong final. Italy was great. My little person liked Italy, Luxembourg and Lithuania. I loved Germany, so glad he did well. My favourite was Switzerland so I’m chuffed they won. Lol mama Trish I loved Finland, couldn’t stop laughing at it. I agree with her about the U.K. though, the song was ok, I hated the staging.

Baby Lasagna absolutely deserved to win this year! He put on an 11/10 performance with improved vocals, staging, cats, animals, smoke and fire! That televote result which probably would have been higher if Israel weren't participating for political reasons, should have been given a few more 12s by the jury! I think if you research the meaning of the song and how the song came about with BL writing the song himself, you'll see why people like it! BL makes sense as a name sine he is like Garfiel with the cats! Croatia almost got their first win!!!

Loved to see mama Trish back. The whole season I really liked The UK's song and I always love Olly as an artist, he did a good job, even if something about the performance was a bit off to me, cool enough concept with the "upside down" staging, but didn't really get the boxing theme and the dancing and his vocals could have been a bit better(I can see why the staging/choreography might have made it a bit hard to get the vocals just right; so much to focus on), But zero points from the televotes, what a shame, sorry for him. My favorite of the finale was Norway(2nd was Switzerland and 3rd Portugal)glad they got enough to go through, but unfortunately either people just didn't like/get that entry(also cause in the finale there tend to be more casual listeners, I guess)or they just fell victim to other artists taking up the majority of the votes. So glad for Nemo to win; always loved that song and his staging was done well with them being able to handle the round seesaw esque platform without falling or messing up the vocals, so impressive, and seeing their reaction to the votes was so sweet. Glad Germany didn't get bottom 5; he sang and performed really well, I was just a bit worried if enough people would find the song interesting enough compared to everything else, but it did good overall I'd say.

Her reaction to Estonia is actually fitting because it is about police profiling poor people for using drugs that only rich people can afford. Pulluup are the police and 5 Miinust are the accused. And ai do get where she was coming from with the UK but the performance was quite controversial and wasn’t family-friendly at all and there were some shocking parts to it and it was quite sexual but I liked it because it was risky and unique. It was unique and artsy and I loved it and he did amazingly with it. Taking it like a champ with that 0 points is great. I also thought his fan base would give him love but U guess they didn’t. He deserved way better. I really think he should return in the future with a stronger entry cause he could really get top 10 but sadly this wasn’t the year. I hope this doesn’t make the UK go back into their old ways because they really tried all they could this year to elevate the song but it just didn’t work out.

I have to laugh as a Norwegian, I didn't like them either and I said from the start we would make a huge mistake by sending them (borderline Q and right side if they Q'd...) My father told me that the music I liked was "Barber wire" music. It wasn't heavy or anything, but to his poor Country music taste brain, it was noisy. It seems like it all has gone in circle and a big part of today's youth don't like music that is loud or intense. Is it the "auto tune" sicknes that has ruined young people's taste and perspective? Is it slick and unoffensive pop music that has taken away new generation's ability to enjoy powerfull and l emotional music? I feel a bit sorry for them, unless they are willing to work on extending their range of taste into new teritory. "I don't really understand and get into this type of music, but I want to, because I think it will be very rewarding" is a good leading attitude to have about music. Personally this worked for me about jazz, heavy metal, Hip hop and many genres I didn't "like". I hope you will open your ears and mind to music like Gåte's. They have so much really good music to enjoy, Much of it isn't that screamy, but it very good.

Emotions were very high this season on all sides and I'm doubtful it will change by next season. @YoavMatari, Luke has been very reasonable in his responses/reactions. Personally, I did give my ROTW votes to Israel a large part in response to what I noticed other KZbinrs doing. Yes, they did use ignoring for their own agendas. Although I'm sure difficult, Luke stayed above the fray. ❤. It's a good thing we can only vote "for" a song in Eurovision.
