Correction for 0:29 - After the whiffed tackle, stHK is perfectly meaty here as well... I didn't realize lol Correction for 3:43 - If the opponent did a super, you could try doing OD DP or a super yourself to win the interaction. You can also do a preemptive Drive Impact if you think they will DP (risky). @@TwoToneRome take your time man! You'll get there! I've been playing another game that recently came out so I've been MIA on fighting games for a bit lmao. But I did remember one thing that helped and it's something that already helped before. I realized I stopped paying attention to the small goals I set for myself before and I've only been focusing on winning. Had to take a step back and just got back to those basics and always ask myself "What needs more work?" And that's what got me back into Diamond. But everyone is different, don't be too disheartened!

Great video. One that I've found is that after tackle, dash up HK is guaranteed, it should hit counter which means you can combo into cr.hp, the timing of this is pretty tight though so I tend to do cr.LP xx H.DP

Nice video! If you anti air with heavy dp, you also get oki without meter (one dash). Don't know if this applies to every dp he has or if it is real oki (I just labbed Jumping attack and then mashed jab to simulate wake up jab on frame 0) but I think it should be possible to see if it is real oki with the frame meter.

Hey man, thank you for your work! Could you maybe do a short video on Luke and his most simple go-to like 3 hit combos for new players? Because I can barely input dragon punch motion and those crazy half a second level 3 supers after shoulder charge seem luke dark magic! Even if not, still great video,!

Hey man! I was going back to this video and had a few questions. Would you recommend 6HP to meaty out of all Drive Rush followups, and 2MP out of all non-Drive Rush followups? I'm asking because you only mentioned these buttons in a few of the setups. Additionally, how would the opponent doing a regular or backwards recovery affect your approach?
@jeako777
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
6HP is my personal favorite out of all Drive Rush followups, although other Luke players also use 2MP after Drive Rush. I personally don't like 2MP there because it's kinda awkward on block and sometimes hard to time properly, like after a regular H Knuckle knockdown. 2MP is pretty much your go-to regular meaty, yes. But after a grounded level 2 super in the corner, you should use 2LP. You can actually use 2MP if you juggled into level 2 super. And if you got a knockdown where you get a meaty 5HK, then 5HK is really good too on regular hit, although on block it's not as good as 2MP. I personally almost always do 5HK in those situations. In the video, I was assuming that the opponent will always do a back recovery. Not many things change when they do a regular recovery. After a Tackle knockdown, you're in throw range much better against regular recovery, so no need to do a 2MK to catch their backwards walk. Also a counterhit 2MP into 2HP will pretty much always work if they do a regular recovery. There's no timing difference between regular and backwards recovery. Sorry for the 300 word essay.

@jeako777 I appreciate the detailed response so no worries at all about the essay lol, keep up the good work!

Hi, I'm quite new to sf6 and I don't know all the terminology. What does "midi" means? I don't know how it's written, but you pronounce it like that and say things like "your midi option", "midi standing heavy kick" and such. Thanks for the useful guide!
@jeako777
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
Usually when people say "meaty", they're talking about doing an attack right as the opponent is getting up off the ground (aka "waking up"). If my attack is timed correctly, the opponent can't interrupt it (unless they use an invincible attack), so you call it "meaty". In fighting games, attacks can have multiple active frames (frames where the hitbox is out). You can time your meaty attack, so that it hits the opponent with a really late active frame, which makes you more advantageous on hit and on block than normally (this is getting pretty technical, I know). In the video, my meaty standing heavy kick hits with it's last active frame, which allowed me to combo into crouching heavy punch.
@jeako777
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
When a commentator says: "Oh wow that hit SUPER meaty" or something like that, they just mean that the attack hit with a really late active frame. Here are clearer definitions of this term: glossary.infil.net/?t=Meaty This website is really good for learning fighting game terminology in general. If anything is still unclear, feel free to ask!

The shimmy after tackle doesn’t work on Ken for me at 1:03 is this character specific ?
@jeako777
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
I delayed Jamie‘s throw by 3 frames in the clip because most players will delay their tech. I don‘t think shimmy works vs an instant tech here. You can meaty vs instant tech.

IS the StHK after target combo still 0 on block for recovery in place? Thought its the spacing that make it meaty.
@cloudstrife5487
@cloudstrife5487 11 ай бұрын
i mean the spacing that makes it 0
@jeako777
@jeako777 11 ай бұрын
It's still 0 after recovery in place. The reason why is that the opponent's hurtbox appears on the same frame, no matter which recovery option they chose. And the frame where your last active frame is out, is the frame where their hurtbox comes out. Spacing only matters if their hurtbox was out the entire time, so not in an oki situation. Hope this makes sense!

@jeako777
@jeako777 Жыл бұрын
In the video, Jamie delayed his throw for 3 frames, that‘s why I had enough time to shimmy. Most players will do a delayed tech. If you can‘t shimmy against someone, then that means that they didn‘t delay their throw, so that is important information.
