This was weirdly a satisfying, comforting, educational/knowledge (at least in my opinion), well put video in my book. Honestly I watch this to kill time and watch random videos as I'm waiting patiently to finish my last year of college at 2024. If all goes well of course, with that being said. It was nice, but a bit tiny bit of myself truthfully I confess I actually wanted to be a LEGO stop-motion youtuber as a kid growing up in the 2000s. But dropped the idea since maybe it's too late for a grown man in his 20s to do so, but maybe once I get the time and money I'll probably slowly but surely tip my toe into the realm of Stop-Motion Animation and see where it will take me from there. Also I wanted a solid camera anyway like Peter Parker or Frank West haha.

Very good video. Quick side note: you can use a chromebook for animating, though the program I used for years suddenly no longer works. You can get stop motion studio on it, though it treats the cameras like phone cameras (basically flipping the view of the web cam, making it disorienting). Anyways, amazing video =)

I have a superzoom type camera. Not a DSLR, more like a bigger "compact" camera. It has a "stop motion" mode built in that adds onion skinning, and offers you creating a video once you are done. But anyway I prefer to use raw pictures. I copy them to PC and I'm going trough them deleting unnecessary ones, editing those, that needs being edited, and then I'm importing them directly to (free version) davinci resolve. The app needs some tweaking to be able to treat bunch of pictures as a single clip, but it works. And I'm quite happy with the process considering it's free, and overall look is much much better than when I was using just the phone.

I've thought about buying a dslr camera recently, though I am unsure about some things. If i were making a stop motion, would I need it to be connected to a computer or can it be connected to an iPad via BlueTooth (or does it need to be connect to anything at all)? If your taking photos for stop motion can you just take them on the camera, then put the sd card in the computer, export the pictures to a separate device and put it in a software for stop motion? Sorry for so many questions, I've always wanted to get a dslr but I don't know if it would work with my current setup.

Thanks for uploading this. I was about to buy a DSLR until i realized there's not much difference between the cam. quality of phones, webcams, films, and a DSLR. If you get good lighting and photo editing skills, i think the photos will look almost the same haha. Buying a DSLR is a waste of money. You're not going to use the video feature if all you're making is stop-motion animation. If you're going to need a tripod, batteries, and other equipment then you might as well buy a phone or webcam.

Not quite. It would just take pictures of your live view, which may be better than some webcams, but never as good as actuating the shutter on your camera. The DSLR software have live view *and* snap the actual camera shutter, giving you the juicy DSLR look.

Hi, we just got the Canon Rebel EOS T7 camera and have one question: How to you set the focus so that EVERYTHING in the shot is clear? When we take photos, we can make some of our shot in clear focus, but the rest of it (other minifigures or the background, for exampe) appears blurry. Thanks.
@rioforce2 жыл бұрын
If you set the f/stop to a larger number (meaning the aperture hole in the lens will be smaller, letting less light in), more of the shot will be in focus. It may be impossible to have *everything* in perfect focus but it can come close! You may have to boost your ISO or Shutter Speed to compensate for the darker picture made by the aperture change. Hope it helps!

I’ve been using an iPhone with Stop Motion Studio Pro for my animations for the past few years. It’s served most of my needs, but I’ve been frustrated with the very shallow depth of field it has, which I can’t seem to adjust and which reduces most of the characters and scenery to a blur. Do you have any advice for this, or am I better off getting a proper DSLR?
@rioforce Жыл бұрын
You should try some of those iphone clip on "lenses". Some, especially the zoom ones, can give you some Depth of Field. Mind you, I've never tried them with stop-motion, so I don't know how well they'd work, but that might be a quick solution for you. Otherwise, a webcam or DSLR might suit you, depending on what computer/software combo you're using and what budget you're working within.

So much easier to get great colors (without using photoshop or Lightroom) and also easier to get cool camera angles. If you have a big setup, I get what you’d use a DLSR. The are better quality. Otherwise check for antiflicker settings on your webcam software. I know Logitech webcam software is supposed to have it.
