Stopmotion lens choice, all budgets

Best lens or glass for stop motion is a something that I have been researching for long time now. I have been asking DOPs for long and testing some lens on my own. Now I can say I have a better image of all the options and hope it can help others.
Nikon vintage lens is a great choice, used in big feature films and tv series to cover all the needs of a lot of sets working simultaneous, it is a great type of lens at a reasonable price.
L series, if you are a canon user, is a nice option for a small studio, shooting from commercials to behind the scenes.

I would highly recommend the 50mm prime lens from canon. It's really affordable, and is a really sharp and detailed lens.

This is so informative! I think I have that first canon lens you mentioned and I definitely have had some times that I accidentally bump the image or something. I might consider getting an older lens at some point in the future though. I’m sure I can find one in my city.

I've been using a Rokinon 35mm T1.5 cinema-style lens, which is definitely on the budget end of cinema lenses. It's fully manual, so no flicker issues. Minimum focus distance is 12 inches (0.30m), but what I really like is the approx. 170 degress of barrel turn to focus from 12" to infinity. Much easier to get precise focus. It has a fair amount of focus breathing, but I haven't had to pull focus much.

Thanks for the video! I'd highly recommend the Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4. It has a minimum focus distance of 18cm and it can be found for quite good prices!
