@Albanez394 жыл бұрын
@@edupuertasfruns I don't really understand why you need a bigger live view...I just got DragonFrame yesterday and had some problems honestly... I finally switched to a GH5 (I'm a film student) after 4 painful years with the Canon 5D Mark III (which I hated when shooting video). The GH5 is not only a filmmaking beast, but it also revived my desire to take photos, experiment with different things and create more and better stuff. After doing some focus staking, I thought about giving stop motion a try. I connected my camera and understood how DragonFrame works...but every time I snap a frame, my camera settings go back to default (F2.8, 1/50 shutter, 1600ISO - settings I use when shooting video). The camera does the same thing when it shuts down automatically (to save power when not shooting), and I have personally saved those settings...But with DragonFrame, the GH5 behaves as if it turns off after each shot. Is there a way to fix this? Perhaps a specific option/setting that doesn't interfere with the camera at all? As if DragonFrame only captured the live image, but didn't send any data or signal back to the camera...is it possible? Thanks for your response :)

Hi Edu, its me again, maybe on my previous message I was very vague. I bought a month ago the Canon Rebel T6 camera. Excellent combo and excellent camera, luv it! The main reason I bought this camera was to edit photography and video to produce films under Stop Motion. First, I connected the camera to my Mac Book pro (my mac book runs with OS system), download and run the necessary utilities/drivers to use the Canon camera, and to set it as my default camera. But the camera is not detectable on the Mac Book Pro. Then, I downloaded other applications as iMovie & Stop Motion software but none of these seems to work with the camera (the camera is just off). Then, I try to connect the camera to my ASUS laptop (my Asus laptop runs with Windows 8), and download the Stop Motion Pro program. With this program, the camera seems to detectable, but I do not know why it takes too long to the camera to just take a picture with the live screen. However, after hours of using it (not even a day) the computer sometimes does not detect the camera, so the program closes automatically no giving any message. Has anyone had the same problem? I do not want to continue to buy software to produce video and see myself affected because the camera is not compatible or easy to use as something as simple as "plug and play". Hope you can give me advised. Thank you.
@edupuertasfruns7 жыл бұрын
Ok, at least I would say you to go and install canon software fist, like canon eos utility to have the camera connected to either a mac or a pc. Then I would give a try to dragonframe trial to see if it works, on free mode, I don't have those kind of troubles. Stop motion pro is not very updated to latest cameras and I don't find it too friendly, but it is my personal feeling.

Wow! Thank you Edu. I just download the trial of Dragon Frame 4, yesterday. What a great software for stop motion. I have noticed something when taking pictures using my computer- a Mac book pro, Canon Rebel T6, Dragon Frame, and good ilumination with umblrellas and light. I noticed that when I take the picture, Dragon Frame takes about 30 seconds to process the shot. Is this bug in the camera or the software? Do you know if there is any option to adjust the waiting time between shot and shot? Thank you.

I have a camera question. I want to take Canon. But I can not make my choice between a reflex camera and mirrorless. Question can a DSLR camera actually take a better photo (color depth, shadows, etc.) when compared with a mirrorless camera, all other things being equal? I mean, we compare two identical cameras (the same matrix, lens, focal length, light). But the difference will consist only in the fact that one camera is a mirror one and the other is a mirrorless one. How long will the mechanical shutter work if every day you make 1000 shots?
@andrewrobotbuilder3 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment, but I'm putting some tips so they'll help anyone else Generally you'll have more wear and tear on a DSLR simply because of the mechanical components. A bit of research shows they usually last between 100,000 and 300,000 shots before they need repair. So if you're shooting around 1000 frames a day, you can expect 100 days or just over 3 months of daily shooting. Of course mirrorless cameras don't have as much of this problem since there's no mirror or SLR to worry about, making them last longer. That said, they are entirely dependant on their sensor to show what's happening so their battery life is shorter, though if it's hooked up to a power source and viewed on an external screen then that should negate that issue. One factor that doesn't get features as much are the lenses. Most lenses aren't interchangeable between DSLRs and mirrorless, so while you can pick up cheaper second hand DSLR lenses they won't fit on a mirrorless without an adaptor, and not all features (like autofocus) will work. Those are just a few tips from a gadget geek, so you may need to do your homework when it comes to deciding what equipment to buy. With that said I hope this helps!

Hello, that video helps a lot. For my uni project, I'd need to buy a fotocamera and wonder which one1 would be a better choice: Sony a5100 (perfect for vlogs but no audio) or canon 1300 (has Wi-Fi so i can use it with dragonframe). Thank you :)
@edupuertasfruns7 жыл бұрын
Sonya Borisova Hey, lovely, with the Sony you will need a capture device that costs about 200 euros. The canon simply the USB port. that makes the diference.

Thanks for your clear video. In the Nikon I got there is no 16:9 Does the Canon 1200D have this possibility? It is so hard to make a HD vid, 1920x1080, from those standard photo formats on, or do you have an other solution for this?
@edupuertasfruns7 жыл бұрын
+strayfox I am not sure I understand, the original format is more 4:3 in all the photo cameras. To make it 16:9 you loose the upper and down side. Did you mean this?
@onbekendedame7 жыл бұрын
Yes that is what I ment. Do you use 4:3 in the stop-motions and if so how do you convert this into a video format in any editing program? I use myself Premiere.
@edupuertasfruns7 жыл бұрын
+strayfox yeah, I always mask the image while animating to see the final frame on Dragonframe, then when you edit you just throw your jpeg sequence to a 16:9 timeline on premiere. When you export its done.
@edupuertasfruns7 жыл бұрын
+strayfox I do make more steps and use more programs but the idea is the same.
@onbekendedame7 жыл бұрын
It must be easier in Dagonframe masking it. When makig stills outside it is an other story. While working I cannot see what will be out of the picture when it will be later a 16:9 Thanks for helping!

Thanks for great videou :) What would you choice: new Canon 700D with all needed equipment (lens 18-55 mm IS STM, bag, power adapter and more) in price vs (bazaar but in good shape) Canon 5D mark II bodey with nothing (not even lens) for same price? But bere in mind that I have no experience with cameras and it would be my first cam... Thanks a lot for your time and inspiration. Count DB

@edupuertasfruns4 жыл бұрын
@chantalrosengurt48204 жыл бұрын

Hi, On the dragonfram website they say to use a nikon lens with CANON cameras because it is possible to have problems. What do you think of that? ---> To avoid flicker that can be caused by electronically controlled aperture lenses, please use a manual Nikon lens ('D' series
@edupuertasfruns4 жыл бұрын
We use them, but we also use Canon lenses. It is all about knowing what is the issue and solving it if ocurs

Great video! Thank you! I am about to start working with Stop Motion animation and Dragon Frame 4. I'm looking to buy a camera now (currently looking at the Canon Rebel T5 or T5i). On the Dragon Frame website, in the Supported Camera section, they mention "flicker", and using a Nikon lens with the Canon camera. They say that electronically controlled aperture lenses will cause this "flicker". They recommend the Nikon "D" series. What is your opinion on this? It looked like you were using the Canon lenses. It seems like a lot of work to buy a Canon camera, a Nikon lens plus an adapter. Thank you!!!
@edupuertasfruns6 жыл бұрын
You should get the lens you like for your film. Normally the flicker they talk about is even not noticeable and for a lot of starting projects is ok. The thing is, with manual lenses you will have no aperture flicker ( that's why using Nikon D ones, they have manual aperture ring) but then you need an adaptor and Dragonframe does not adjust right the exposure. Canon L lenses, expensive, could give you that flicker, there are ways to fix it. All that affects to professional work and you can imagine that at certain levels all the details matter a lot. Anyway, if you are talking about T5i, I don't think you shoud worry about it, regular kit lenses will give you less flickr than more expensive lenses because they are zooms and normally starts at f4.
@warsd46 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the quick reply! Would you recommend the T5, T5i or T6 for Dragon Frame?

Hi Edu! Awesome video! Very helpful! Thank you! Are zoom lens a good choice for stop motion? Do they create light flickering when filming and also when zooming in and out? What lenses do I have to choose to avoid light flickering and what settings I have to do?
@edupuertasfruns5 жыл бұрын
From my experience zoom lens tend to have less aperture flicker. I use them a lot but I don't use them to zoom in or out in animation. My favourite is the 24-70 mm L canon lens

Hola Edu! Correcto?) El eterno problema del Flickering, has notado diferencias entre cámaras o siempre es más producido por los focos?¿ Has conseguido solventarlo? :) Gracias y feliz año!
@edupuertasfruns8 жыл бұрын

:( Saludos!
@edupuertasfruns6 жыл бұрын
Saludos!
