if 2,07 megapixels is enough for video (1080p), then it's also enough for photo. especially it's meant to be viewed on a tiny ass smartphone screen.

Just thinking aloud here. Composition is King no matter the gear or pixels. Knowing how to use your camera to its potential is next up. Managing noise is different for every camera and takes practice. Megapixels aid in cropping when you couldn’t position yourself quite right. 20MP seems to be the sweet spot.

How many you need will depend on the work you do. A bill board is viewed from distance. Shoot a poster to be displayed on the side of a bus shelter with 6mp and it will fall apart. My current cameras are Fuji X100 12mp - Love this little thing and the images are great from it. Canon 5D Mark II 21mp - I love the files from this sensor. Canon M3 24mp - Video only.. frankly it sucks for stills. Canon 5D Mark IV 30mp - It's a great camera but I don't love the files from it. A friend has it on trial as they may buy it. Canon 5DsR - 50mp - Huge huge files with tons of detail and resolution for commercial work. But it's not for every job... nobody needs a 50mp head shot that shows every little detail. Which is my main workhorse.... yup still the 5D Mark II I have shot for 10+ years. Go fucking figure lol

Is not a 1 MPixel 1.000.000 Pixel. Mega is 10^6.

Actually 1 Mpix is 1 million pixels, not a thousand. Rest of your math is correct though - most pics on the net indeed have less than 2Mpix. And I still think it makes sense to have plenty of megapixels if you know you're going to heavily crop your picture. If you'll make a group photo with 1Mpix camera you'll be able to tell how many people were there and where's who. If you'll make a group photo with 10Mpix camera you'll be able to zoom in on your sweethearts face and print a small portrait out of it. But yeah, having much more than that is a bit pointless.
