Great job, this is why a printed map of the correct route in should always be supplied on difficult access jobs (I work for agricultural contractor who uses drop pins to indicate where you should be, and then the Farmer tells you oh you don't come down that way)

There isn't any feeling I can think of that comes close to how you feel when you have to drive past an 'unsuitable for long vehicles' sign. I did it quite a few times in my career and I know exactly how Luke was feeling. Respect Luke, well driven.

And i thought watching scott andrews was stressful , trouble is with those lanes is once your committed the only way is forward, no turning around or reversing back out, throw in a road closed sign and conflicting route information of 2/3 different guys and its a wrong turning to disaster, my heart sank when you had grass growing in the middle of the lane !,. a couple of things in your favour comming out, you were empty and you had a flatbed on, superspace cab not ideal tho, in a perfect world , same route out as you came in on, why do people run businesses at inaccessible places like that i'll never know, i wonder how the other driver got on with the road closure ?,. sat nav/map/personal directions, its a lottery, but it was brilliant content, & BREATHE.

Luke . most of those little lanes were made for horses and carts , well before tractors were invented , certainly not for your length of truck , these farmers and their ' little projects ' do not consider one iota how the materials are going to get there because they don't have to do it , also , by the fact they just leave trailers and other stuff just randomly abandoned on the site , you'd think they would make an effort to clear the space enough for you to manoeuvre the truck easier , it's just thoughtlessness on their part. Well done .

Class work as always Luke 👍. Although I don't drive class 1 100% get where you're coming from with the anxiety. We deliver palletised goods to domestic, farm and commercial addresses in the South East. TBH its why i love my job, the sky high anxiety followed by the adrenaline rush when you get somewhere in the lorry that some drivers struggle to get a car. Maybe i' m wired up wrong 😂😂

​@@Substance2020 Not sure I agree with that statement. The company I drive for currently employ 4 female drivers. They don't get a free meal ticket and have to do the same job as the men. One is 22 years old, financed her training herself and is a bloody good driver. Another is class 1 licensed and again is probably better than some of the men on the roads today Women don't drive with an over inflated ego like us men!!!

see this is one of the main things thats gets me propper miffed, especially as ill soon be in a HGV (admitidly only briefly in the uk), roads unsitable for HGV is not a new problem... but the need ever increases to have HGVs in such places, and the general responce from the government, urban planners, the public ect, is meh I see no problem HGVs are the worst HGVs are the problem blah blah blah blah. nevermind EU here I come :D

Damn I was on a road worse than that last week between paddock wood and staplehurst. Loads of roads closed. No signs saying no hgv or unsuitable. And it was a busy single lane and very thin double lane road where cars had to back up to let me though and I got reported to my company for being an ignorant prick. When a guy says you shouldn’t be up here. I said there was no signs mate saying I can’t. Lmao. That was stressful ended up ripping abit of the pelmet in the hedge.

You dodged a bullet. I learnt to heed those signs about roads abd HGVs. I entered what the sign said was like "5km of narrow road ahead" and came out the other side like I had won the lotto - there was a total of about 3 spots a car could have pulled in and if another truck was anywhere it was game over.

I had the same thing yesterday doing a delivery in Minsterley. So many road closures. It was carnage. Lorry’s reversing all over the place! I ended up turning into a farmers track just to let others pass. I was beginning to feel like I was never going to get back on to “normal” roads! 🙄

those trucks with abnormal loads you saw heading into wales are from a company in Darlington called John Dickinson Transport. they never have movement orders for any work they do so you will often find them parked in services due to them being pulled by the police
