About the battery life - it seemed that it was really going through the battery fast, but after having 5 days now; I find that the battery is conditioned and now the battery life has improved immensely (TBH, it's actually really great).

Claims like 'recycled materials', 'non toxic components', etc are meaningless if you have to recycle the device long before it reaches what should be its natural lifespan. Parts cannot be replaced without Apple lifting your leg, and in addition you become locked out of your iCloud account until you buy a newer product. That tactic should be completely illegal, on environmental grounds at the very least. In addition, you cannot give an older iPhone or iPad a second life by installing Linux onto it. I have a fully reliable iPhone 6 Plus here which still has 87% battery health, and looks brand new, but it can only be used for phone calls, texting and non-iCloud e- mails. Apple locked it out of iCloud a few months ago, for no sensible reason apart from greed, effectively losing them a customer, because I don't have the spare money to shell out for a new phone. I'd put a modern version of Linux into it in a heartbeat.... if Apple would allow that heart to beat. The only reasons why I use an Apple phone are that Android is truly awful to use, laden with ads on every level, and a portal for Google to shove its hand down the user's throat, or into any other orifice that you can imagine.

Also thank you for talking about the repair side. I own a electronics repair shop and these phones / laptops / tablets are always getting harder and harder to fix. I hate to tell my customers no there's nothing I can do when I know darn well if it wasn't for everything being serialized I could fix it. Apple has made me purchase other products they sell just to break them open to get 1 stupid charging/power IC because no one will sell it. Other repair shops will know what I'm talking about... We need to get Right to Repair moving forward but when all these companies have trillions / billions to spend on lobbyist I'm not sure what we will be able to accomplish without a wake up call.

It’s quite simple, they’re a private business and can sell their products in such a way that they deem appropriate. No one has to buy it. If that happened maybe it would change but the desire is still bigger than the downsides. Doesn’t take legislature to force them to produce products a certain way, trust me no one wants that

this is way more complicated than what you think. then people are running arround with "repaired" devices from who knows what "technicians" that catch fire etc... to name only one of many more. it's not that easy

I own my own business and Ive been in the repair field for about 20+ years now.... I know what I'm talking about. There are bad repair shops out there yes but there are many many many good ones that are not " Authorized repair " X brand " that you can trust. I do not know of many devices that have been repaired from a shop and then blown up / catch fire. That would be a potential bad battery that maybe a good tech thought was good at the time? It is tricky finding the right vendors that will go against the big tech companies and sell you the right / good parts I admit. I really hope your not one of those people who watches and believes all the " ANTI-REPAIR COMMERCIALS " about an un-authorized tech will hack your device and ruin your life by stalking you. Many " Authorized " repair companies or even the big brand have been caught cutting corners and stealing customers data. @@shiftctrlhackI totally agree. I repair Macbooks in Australia, I know what I am doing and every day I repair Macbooks that Apple just want to replace logic boards on, telling people that their data is gone forever. You are also right about the anti third party propaganda put out by the big tech companies. The auto companies put out these ridiculous adverts about people getting raped in car parks because of third party repair. This was highlighted by Louis Rossmann in some of his videos. We need effective right to repair strategies from the tech companies and in all areas from farming equipment to computer hardware and everything in between. At 7:50 you did the wrong calculation there for the battery life. Your testing consumed 21% battery on 15PM and 27% on 14PM and you said it's 6% better. NO. Because, based on your number you can perform the same test on 15PM 4.76 times and on 14PM 3.70 times. It makes 15PM having 28% better battery life than your 14PM. And this is not something I'm claiming, it is based on battery percentages of your phone. So 15PM battery is 28% better than 14PM not 6% as you mentioned. They should just allow yourself as the owner to be able to control the de-serialization of components via an AppleID login or some other form of authentication, especially one that a thief would not have access to (like a Yubikey). AND affordable. IF Apple keeps refining original Steve Jobs iPhone design with updated specs, I’ll keep buying even if my current SE still working. Next one Spring 2025 with A17 and USB-C please! 😏

It most likely will have face id unfortunately for you
@ken1w Жыл бұрын
@@RuviaPawz Face ID and larger screen would add $100-150 (or more) to retail price, for the low-cost choice. And creating a brand new design with Face ID doesn’t make sense for SE. It’s the “special edition” of an existing design with updated specs. iPhone 13 mini just recently left the iPhone lineup, so Apple may update that existing design with A16 and USB-C for release Spring 2024, call it the new iPhone SE (4). But two back cameras, Face ID, and larger screen will increases cost. OR maybe simply call it iPhone mini (with no number) for customers who want smaller up-to-date iPhone design AND keep current (more affordable) SE in lineup with Spring 2025 specs update.

Disagree on the night time camera performance differences between the 14PM and 15PM. In your comparison picture at 6:56 you can see that the street lights give less of a glare on the 15PM. That’s due to a new coating on the lenses to reduce light glare. Otherwise, nice video!

Let's talk about the iPhone 15 It cost nearly a 1000 euro in the European market. BUT: refresh speeds of the screen is still 60Hz. Reloading the battery goes slow with a speed of under 30 Hz and USB-C2 dates back to the year 2000. and is much much slower than the Pro and Pro Max. Completely agree with your concerns. Apple is basically making it impossible to keep a phone for more than a few years and if you do - you better switch to AppleCare on a monthly renewal. My iPad Pro 12.9 is four years old and I still pay every month for AppleCare. Last year the USB port no longer would charge so they sent me a replacement unit, same model. My question is at what point do they tell me we’re sorry you’ve been paying for AppleCare but we no longer have that unit to replace yours with.

I can’t believe anything apple says about caring about the user or the environment because of their insidious capitalist tactics. Apple normalizes this sh*t. Apple creates a society I don’t want to live in. I really hate that. I bought into the Apple ecosystem about five years ago and the products are good, but I‘m refusing to upgrade any of them as long as apple doesn’t fix this issue. When it loses support we should recycle it so new models can be made. A good service is one that you never need. I use Apple devices since 2012, so far I had zero (0) repairs needed in an Apple device. Yes I always have my phone in a thin case plus a display protection glass, on average I drop it once every 1-2 years. Never been a problem. But yes Apple is in for profit, not for repairability. The 5x portrait lens is too long for many situations (like indoor), also a maximum of possible bokeh is not necesarily a good thing.

Thank you for not going complete fanboy on this review. I understand the need to stay on the right side of Apple opinion now that you are a hugely popular (deservedly so) and influential Apple reviewer. One prime example is your refusal to cover Opencore. You understand how much of a blessing Opencore is for people who can not afford New Apple dvices and pro users that need to edit on their 5.1's. It's understandable why you can't/won't tout the amazing resource it is for Apple lovers that can't afford to replace with a machine with power and storage equivalence . Is this REALLY a good phone for the price though? Without saying it, you did. The 15 is a let down. The LONG AWAITED 3nm is here..... and it's not much better. In a way Luke, you just helped me decide to buy a used Studio Mac for a huge savings over waiting for the M# or any other 3nm chip as we are not going to be given performance gains in spades like we all hoped and waited for. dude i dont mean to be rude, but if you dont get through a day with a 15 pro (NOT MAX) iphone which i am currently using, and i got through 2 days, meanwhile battery was at 60% after these 2 days without any charging inbetween, then how in the world are you using your phone? maybe rather reconsider your using habits and think about how these have changed over the past few years. then think about how nice it is, that even though your screen on time has increased drastically, your phone is still capable of keeping up with one charge through the day, even though you are demanding so much from it. Even physically speaking, iphones are at a somewhat fixed size, so there is only so much room to improvements on battery size and with that, battery life. almost everything that is done, is done rather on software then on hardware. we demand the phones to get better, with higher performance, brighter screens, higher resolutions, more performance in shooting video which drains battery and we are using it more and more everyday. and then we wonder why battery life stays the same xD like bro. Wake up and stop complaining so frkin much, when you get an amazing device that can do literally everything. these issues cannot be fixed in a timeframe of just one or two years. maybe adjust and lower your expectations, start changing your usage habits. being 6 hours on a phone every day is not even healthy. i cannot even think of where to put 6 hours of time of my day into phone usage. most people do not have that time / luxury. People have children, a life where they go to their 9to5 jobs, where they cannot use their phones while working and so on. these extreme complains come from a very heavy power user perspective. srsly dude. people are getting way too comfortable, expecting more and more unreasonable things from companies. I understand that from your perspective, the battery might not be enough, but making it out to be a general issue and misleading people in believing the battery life is "bad" is just not fair to any company. If you use your phone like this, trying to do literally everything and non stop at that, then the issue does rly not lie with the phone, but rather with its user. also, there are accessories, like magsafe batteries, that you can use to recharge your phone on the go. there are solutions for your issue. dont make it seem like there is no way to handle it if you have that kind of issue. i am really not trying to defend apple here, im just sick of the complains of powerusers, saying battery life is bad. i had iphones since iphone 5, and srsly, battery life has become amazing the last few years. get a grip. sry for being so harsh on this, but i feel like people are simply losing more and more selfawareness and blaming it on the devices they use, when i hear these types of complains. this is not meant to be personal, its just a friendly wake up slap for anybody who is saying the same things all the time. instead of making such a big fuss of it, learn to handle your expectations and the limitations of hardware / software. i can guarantee you, this "issue" of yours will probably not be solved even in 3 years. it will slowly progress, be patient.

Totally my thoughts! Nice video Luke! Hopefully Apple would noticeably improve battery life in the following years, especially when more and more people are complaining and less and less new features can be added. As for the parts serialization, one way would be for Apple to unlock some parts after a device gets vintage, so at least it would be possible to be fixed with 3rd party parts or technicians.
