DHCP is automatic address allocation on a network, so if you have an internet router and hook it up to that with an Ethernet cable it will give it an address. It still may not work totally but it might let it go to the next step.

unfortunately with a higher airflow, any filters/fans/components will clog up faster. I would see if I could add some easily cleanable dust filters and thermometer driven fans if feasible

I like what SEGA does to their arcade machines and the games they have for the arcade it is fun to play them on an emulator.

DHCP means is waiting for any IP address honestly, try running a cable to your router and she just might boot.

What it is waiting for is the DHCP server which auto assigns the IP address to the network car. For that, you simply need a regular router with an ADSL internet connection.

Ah man the arcade version of RAMBO... I played that about a couple months ago... it was pretty sweet! Plays a lot like GHOST Squad (another one of my favorite SEGA light-gun shooters) but with little FMV sequences from the movies. Also I'm noticing a lot of Japanese arcade games lately requiring an internet connection, that's gotta suck from a collector standpoint, eh? :(

Uh no. The reason why the 360 fails again after running a heat gun over it is because the solder joints are not being reflowed properly. In order to properly fix the problem the BGA package must be removed and reballed properly using leaded solder. If the chip Luke reflowed on that video card is a BGA configuration his fix also is not reliable.

Hey Luke. Don't know if it helps but the system is waiting for a dynamic IP address from a DHCP server. If you could set a static ip address somewhere, who knows, it may do something more...

You could probably unplug the front fan or change it out for something quieter, sure it would be fine in a home environment

Oh man, are you a wizard or what? I'm not really surprised it was the gpu, but more than that, I'm really surprised you could fix it! Nice! the dhcp wait is just that it wants a dhcp address, maybe you can give it one? try plugging it into your internet router, or you'll otherwise have to set up a dhcp server (which isn't difficult). congrats, and hat's off!

Well a hot air rework station is the proper tool, a heat gun is more of a MacGyver band aid fix.

I think u are right - just let the machine get its local ip adress via dhcp and try to connect to the sega-servers online...why not?
