It was one of the best conversations in your recent podcasts. Full of expressions and a very interesting conversation. Anthony was extremely kwowledgable and shed light on a very iconic character. Thanks Luke for always making yourself useful and entertaining for us all. Cheers!

Great work! My first contact with the English language was through the music of the Beatles. I can still see a 3-year-old me sitting in front of a huge pair of speakers at my parents’ house. I would sit there for hours, listening to their songs trying to get the lyrics right

Luke, another fantastic episode about The Beatles. I have to admit that I wasn´t a huge fan but, you made me feel interested in the subject. The previous with your mum was amazing. I've been listening to it on and on. I was one of the listeners that was saying, please don't stop, carry on a little bit more,. I bought the book and as you said worthy should you want to understand the complete story and circumstances that made that band a worldwide icon. I hope to enjoy this as I did with the previous one and I'm waiting impatiently that you release the premium Gill's book club. All the best from Spain.

Hur-rah! Such a splendid support for a dull rainy day! Nice topic, nice voice, and nice proportion of the length of the episode. The previous discussion with your mum about "One-two-there-four" was also a nice company to be with.

Thank you Luke. Automatic subtitles are really helpful. I've always been struggling to hear your guests except your mom. This episode is really interesting for me as one of the fans of the Beatles. I look forward to the sequels. And I've liked you singing. This collaboration would be better with Megan's bass, wouldn't it?

I just wanted to listen 10 minutes of this podcast but I was captivated by the story. As a Lennon fan , it was a fascinating subject to listen to 🤩let me tell you what collocations I’ve learned: I was fascinating by John Lennon. Sth were taken out of context Become a martyr Become a myth Become immortalised A forceful person with a lot of conviction Someone pioneered sth Arty, intellectual, stoned, detached look Experiencing pain Throw/put all your eggs in one basket. A very messy and contentious business A pivotal character Involving with grunge Popping in/out Being on Twitter Being morbid Being edgy Being charismatic Ramble Get into couple Having our own insecurities A formidable person A fragile person Getting demonised Being in the limelight Take the limelight Mocking sb Speculate about sth Taking the mantle of sth Thirst for the truth A nebulous thing but fully fertile 😍🤩 Thank you so much 🥳🙏

There comes a time in the life of the Beatles with brightness and darkness. It comes across as a heavy hitter in the musical history.

I wonder if Anthony has gotten into the idea of Tartaria and mudfloods. If so, I'd definitely listen to it.

Hi! "Turn on someone" - to jump on and attack or: - someone to rely on. Have I gotten that correctly, Luke? That's the interesting one :) Also, new expressions for me were "lifewise" & "jobwise". Nice and easy. Many thanks!

To turn on someone To turn someone on The first one is what you described. To suddenly attack someone. The second one means something sexual or drug related

Drives me nuts when the host interrupts the train of thought of a quality guest, just when he’s on a roll. Did he ever follow up on the Fred Seaman thread? I bailed at that point, when the host cut him off…
@LukesEnglishPodcast2 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. I highly recommend listening to Antony’s John Lennon podcast. I never interrupt him and he’s talked about Fed Seaman kzbin.info/door/7aTD1NuEFBTQcQlOWR7iJQ
