If you’re not going for Globalist annually, then the World of Hyatt cards aren’t worth it. Both Discoverist and Explorist status are extremely underwhelming. However, I highly disagree with your thoughts on the program. 1) Award bookings are always limited in some capacity so.. plan ahead especially with Hyatts where everyone wants award bookings. 2) Hyatts are generally in all major cities. 3) I’d also argue that if you want to pay for a vacation and don’t want to lock yourself in a single ecosystem *Cough* Hilton/Marriott, Hyatt is the way to go.

Loved ur comment “if ur family makes great memories, how can it matter what points u use”. It reminded me of a quote from another KZbinr “find a redemption YOU can live with & go enjoy” which helped me avoid analysis paralysis. If u r always concerned about the value you can squeeze out of ur points u will never have the memories.

The 5th Night Free Benefit is a huge benefit with Hilton that I get a ton of value from as well. Booked 5 Night for my honeymoon to get that benefit, and that's awesome you were able to double-down for 10 Nights on your Hawaii trip! I got free Breakfast with Gold Status at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun and the bill would have come out to over $100 for myself and my wife's breakfast, ton of value there! Love that you are versatile with your hotel stays though and depending on what your specific travel booking is, you are willing to be flexible and choose whichever program would make the most sense (such as IHG for the 4th night free if you can only stay 4 Nights). Great video as always Luke!

Great hotel strategy! We use Hilton for a nice high end vacation each year (FNCs + pts) then FNCs from other cards for various stays throughout. We've done well with Hilton + Hyatt (Regency seems to be the sweet spot for us) but would never chase Globalist. Thanks for the info + video!

@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
The Hyatt FNC makes it an easy keeper card for the majority of people who hold it. Of course, you can earn many more points with your Chase cards, but none of those Chase cards give you a FNC, even if that FNC is only covering a category 1-4. Even if those rooms cost just 12k points, at 1cpp that's worth $120 which covers the annual fee and then some which makes it worth it in the same way we'd justify any hotel card with a FNC. I think with that argument I fall on the side of "why not both?". Use your Chase cards for spend and combine those points with your FNC on the Hyatt card to get the best of both. I do appreciate your perspective on it though. It just goes to show that not everyone will get the same value from every credit card, so you gotta see if you can justify it with your personal situation or not! Great video all around as always Luke!!
@LukesPointsandMiles
@LukesPointsandMiles Жыл бұрын
Yeah the card gets positive value for sure but is it worth a 5/24 slot, $95 and a new account? Not in my opinion. Most hotel cards have at least one category in which you can actually earn in - not the WoH. It’s definitely not a bad card but it’s in the most overrated category for me and I think it really only for folks that have an almost blind loyalty to Hyatt. 12k points as discoverist status just won’t cut the mustard in the world of hotel cards - don’t even get me started on that bonus. Haha!
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from but also would still say it's worth it for the Hyatt earning category to me. I don't think of my hotel cards as being high earners by any means. I want my transferrable currency cards to be high earners and my hotel and airline cards I would assume would only ever be used with that exact hotel or airline. That may be where we differ though considering I don't plan on spending $15k for more free nights and stuff like that where the earning categories become much more important. I guess you could call me a blind Hyatt loyalist if you want, but in reality I think most people getting this card will use a 5/24 slot for a FNC and a 10% ROS for the bonus (for the first 30k points) even if that bonus does need a bit of a boost in my opinion. It just depends on your stage in the credit card game and what hotels you like the most. I think you need to go stay at some Hyatt resorts to really see the power in Hyatt cards... the Hyatt places and such may not cut it. @@LukesPointsandMiles
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
You know what they do need though to make everyone happy? A higher tier card that actually earns you some status with a good bonus and some better earning categories and they need to make the business card more justifiable with a better FNC or something. I can get behind that 100% and I assume we're on the same page there. @@LukesPointsandMiles

@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial once I complete my Dreams all inclusive in November I’ll have the free night from staying at 5 different categories. I think I’ll have: Hyatt house, Hyatt regency, andaz, JDV (private collection) and Dreams all inclusive.I also have a stay in Nashville at the Hyatt centric. So a property in each category. They’re solid redemptions and decent stays but pretty easy to do without a WOH card - which don’t get me wrong it’s a keeper card but I won’t be paying cash for Hyatt so it’s almost worthless to me. I just looked at Miami and the only Hyatt beach front in the entire area is a category 5 (the diplomat 17k a night. So that cat 1-4 free night is peanuts 🥜. I just think the card is overhyped almost any other chase UR points earning card give me more access to Hyatt stays. (Not including the freedom unlimited) ha! Hyatt as a program is great for folks that use Chase exclusively for Hyatt stays. And don’t use points for high end flights. I’ve stayed at a ton of Hyatt’s and I think I’ve deployed 215k Hyatt points this year and the WoH would not have helped.
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial
@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Жыл бұрын
I love that you're getting experience with all of the different categories and I hope you'll make a video on your experience with all of them combined! Different perspectives are definitely important, especially when it comes to a card that gets as much hype as the WOH. I would disagree though that the WOH card would give you no value for all those Hyatt stays you booked this year considering you've stayed at properties within the 1-4 range it seems. I say that because there's still the option of using your FNC while also using points for the same booking. Granted yes you're only saving up to like 18k points, but there's no way to make the math work out to where that's negative value if you're actually using the FNC. Whether it's worth a 5/24 slot for you is subjective of course though. I'd just think that for someone like yourself who is traveling so frequently, I'd imagine it's pretty easy for you to use that FNC one time a year while paying points for the rest of that trip using your Chase points. Again, different strategies for different folks, but it'll still be a card I add personally. Also I'll add that I do agree the card is overhyped in certain cases, but I wouldn't necessarily say that's true for everyone. You just have to have the right expectations of what the card actually provides. @@LukesPointsandMiles

How does the $250 resort credit and $100 Hilton on property credit work when you have more than one Aspire card? Do you have to have the rooms charged to each card on different days and spend on the card for the day it’s reserving the room? Or are you able to spend on the card so long as the card and room are both under your name/account? I’m asking because I’m working on getting 3 for me and 3 for my wife for a total of 6 and need to fully understand how to utilize the credits before our upcoming trips. Thanks

First off the $100 property credit is something completely separate. For the $250 resort credit. the card has to be used at a resort. Uncle Luke dropping the knowledge! I love how you find value in all different types of hotels depending on your plans, and you don’t let the hotels dictate your plans. How can I get my UR or MR points to AA from Chase or Amex? I know I can’t directly, but you’re the king of work arounds! - Ivan

Depending on what types of flight you’re booking, you can transfer to British airways. You can book a lot of AA flights through BA. Mostly direct domestic stuff is a really good deal. Like I can do Columbus to Miami for 9k points.

@@LukesPointsandMiles dude! Thank you! For domestic, that might be the play if AA is gonna be the flight carrier I take based on my plans. Sadly, British Airways had no flights to Mexico via AA 😭 If I paid rent, I’d grab the Built Mastercard but I’d literally never use it otherwise so it would be for nothing. Thanks again brother. Love your content.

Great discussion. A hotel or airline card is likely my next move, but I can't decide on which ones. Appreciate the perspectives shared here+

Hi Luke, thank you for the great video! I have a question about the Aspire card for you. You said you have 2 Aspire cards, can you use both $250 resort fee in a single stay? Thanks!

Yes! Each card has its own set of benefits/credits.

@@LukesPointsandMiles So you don't need to charge everything to your room to trigger the promotion? And instead just pay with 2nd card at the restaurant / spa? That's my concern with getting a second Aspire card.
@LukesPointsandMiles
@LukesPointsandMiles Жыл бұрын
@@dragone7e yeah you still need to use the card to trigger the resort credit. I’ve never had any trouble paying my bill at check out with two cards. Or if you take more than one trip

@@LukesPointsandMiles Got it. Charge everything to the room and split at checkout. Thanks Luke!

My opinion Best status: hilton Best hotels: hilton Best point redemption: hyatt I have the marriott brilliant but see no benefits really. Platinum status doesnt do much for me
@LukesPointsandMiles
@LukesPointsandMiles Жыл бұрын
Yeah i can see that. Hyatt will always be the point king but let's factor in the fact that you have to trasnfer UR points which could be way more valuable for international fligths.
