FYI this game started as an MMO co-op, but during development it evolved into a single player open world game WHICH TAKES PLACE in the Black Desert Online world.

@@MisterK-YT they clarified that originally it did start out as being in the same world, but it has evolved into its own thing, the world of crimson desert is called Pywell, it has similarities to black desert’s world, trolls, orcs, magic, the human architecture styles, etc, but it is its own thing NOT set in the black desert world.

I am going tbh, it looks right for them. Even BDO, depsite being an MMO. Has amazing graphics, art design and combat. The classes are also very unique. And in that game, there are 0 loading screens. Its hard for me to explain how giant that map is. It has surface level, underwater, underground, sea, land, and diverse biodomes.

One thing and i think this is why they went the single player route with this, is Korean and Chinese markets are making the big advance to western market and Western consumers need to be attached to the games or sagas,Halo, Souls games, AC (even if you like it or not) The witcher etc etc, so they need to stablish the franchise to the mainstream audience and then start to profit, i can bet my house that after crimson desert we FOR SURE going to have a sequel to Black desert

As someone with thousands of hours in BDO, nothing here looks too good to be true. The combat & animations look like BDO. Having enemies that fight back in an intelligent way is the only thing that is surprising here.

This game looks phenomenal. It looks very deep and rich in features as well, from what we've seen so far. The world looks amazing, the animations are insanely smooth, the scale looks fantastic and the interactivity with the world in terms of being able to interact with NPCS, carry around stuff, presumably some survvial mechanics with temperature and food, being able to ride mounts and wagons, taking missions of different variations, not just hunting monsters but also minute little tasks... it looks amazing. The only thing that I don't like so far are the sheer overflow of particle effects (shoots an arrow and random white sparkles appear?) that drowns and oversaturates the combat that already looks more than just good enough. It also diminishes strong attacks and cool moments when literally every strike is just a firework, even when you just shoot an arrow at a guy. I hope we can turn that down. Another thing that I will turn down by at least 95% is the camera shake. I think that's a korean/japanese videogame thing, but man, it drives me crazy how every attack, block or hit, just violently wiggles the camera, repeatedly. I said it before, but just let your amazing combat, details and scenery speak for itself. You don't need to add unnecessary filters and drama to it, you're already there. It's like in action movies when they have a fight scene and you can't see shit because it looks like someone recorded it with a gopro strapped to one of the actors. In those scenes they often do it to mask bad fights or choreographies, but in Crimson Desert, it's super unnecessary.

My only qualm with the game was somtimes the animations for beasts looked very stiff and janky. They would move so easily while being large and it wouldn't be smooth but a quick shift that felt like a jutter. Now this si mostly prevelant in the dragon. but when they showcased this animations it was well over 2 years ago. So i hope they've been able to smooth out some more of the animations for the dragon and beasts etc.

I trust live demos as much as a trust trailer's. Just pollish a small section of the game, and that's what you let people play. Or worse, specifically make a vertical slice and just pretend it's the game. I trust nothing until it's released and it's impossible to hide anything any more.

I've always thought Black Desert looked really cool, but I'm not into MMO's really. This, though, it looks like RDR2 and The Witcher 3 had a baby (the graphics really remind me of RDR2 in the wilderness, especially). I hope the environmental destruction is for more than just those towers, cause so few games take their destruction physics seriously, but regardless, I didn't even know they were making a single player story-driven version of Black Desert. Looks awesome, I really hope it delivers on what it's showing.

Biggest problem I have with this title (kinda similar with DokeV) is the constant screen shaking and often too many particle effects. An important part of good visual design is clarity so the player can always tell what's happening on the screen.

Horses in RDR are MORE of a gameplay mechanic than actual combat is, compared to most games where horses are simply another means of traversal.
