This game looks fun for a *STARVED* stealth fan. My prediction is that it's going to be an "okay" game, I will enjoy the stealth "open world" (open area, really) but everything else will be a chore. I'd buy this for 10€. If they can guarantee that I won't EVER have to use the stiff and outdated fighting mechanics, I'd be willing to pay up to 20€ for it. And yes, instant detection is no fun. It's also unrealistic, the enemy needs time to assess what they're seeing and then react to it. They need a "deer in the headlight" moment. Where it would be better is that if they see you, and you leave immediately, they would try to find whatever was there, just out of curiosity. Which would create a distraction mechanic: show yourself, quickly hide, while the enemy is investigating, go round the outside and steal something on their desk or something. (didn't see any trace of this in this preview though) Looks like it's going to be Farcry 3 levels of stealth. No great, but good enough for anyone STARVING for stealth (emphasis of STARVING, this is junk food equivalent of stealth) Anyone going into this game for the combat has my sympathy... Combat looks dreadful...

Uncharted proved without the shadow of a doubt that it can be done in at least one way. The issue I can foresee here is that the game will appeal to no one. I'm a stealth fan so it could be cool for someone like me, but I'm going to hate everything else about the game. People who don't like stealth will either be forced into it or have to spend 12 hours with this outdated, boring combat system... It looks stiff as fck... Let's be honest... 18:07 looks laughably bad The perfect formula for Indie seems to be what Uncharted has done. I get why they haven't replicated it (they would have lost in comparison), but I don't think that this will be enjoyed by the many. Only the few, most likely people who like stealth games and have nothing better to get their hands on.

@BigO1611074 сағат бұрын
i know what Luke doesnt like about it, and its the animations. The actions of indy are so chopped up, its like a delay between different actions making it look very choppy. Like when hes blocking a punch, there a split second where everything just freezes and then it proceeds to the next animation and its like that with almost all animations. Whipping someone? Freeze. Punch? Freeze. Climb a wall? Wait for animation to finish, continue. 3:50 is a prime example of such a freeze, there is no fluidity. I think thats the difference between many modern games and the games Rockstar puts out. In a rockstar game, the disconnect between the player and the character when the character is in an animation is very minimal, making it both look and feel realistic, while this comes off as very "gamey" looking, like: "PRESS BUTTON TO MAKE CHARATER DO THIS" instead of just intuitively and instinctively jumping on something and the character does what you wanted it to do in a realistic looking way.

Falls in the middle for me. Player animations happen a bit too quickly and lack momentum behind them. I've seen worse, but in a game like this, having more momentum would help with challenge and immersion. Imagine if you take a strong swing and miss, that your character stumbles forward for a step or two (just like real life), leaving you wide open to a counter attack. Not only would this help with the "weight" of the game, but like I said, add some challenge by having combat mistakes be costly.

Born 98 and I've Watched/Played every single Indiana jones Movie/Game but did not watch the newest one because a friend who is also a massive fan hated it and was a modern audience kind of movie.. & that's all i needed to know but I'm very much interested in this game for sure looks amazing and i play on all 3 platforms i don't discriminate.. also I've played all the new Wolfenstein games the co op one was ass but the 3 prior are amazing damn near masterpieces William Joseph Blascowits or terror Billy actor won an award for his voice acting in it. This game has potential but with it not being volent like their previous games may take away from the experience i love good violent executions I'm a sucker for it

I think it's going to be a really good game. I hope that it has about 20 hours of gameplay and that the story is good from start to finish. I think it's even day one in game Pass. So a no brainer for me.

Its a bold approach and one that i think will be dependent on how good the AI is (i agree with you) and its interesting that they got those Butcher Bay vibes, which is a game I love and I was getting those vibes too watching this. Hopefully optimistic.

Oh god how we need more games like this and uncharted and tom raider saga ...

Wish the game was third person like Uncharted instead of first-person.

And if it was many reviewers would probably just call it an uncharted game clone.

Why does it look so old? Hopefully it's still just BETA and needs fine polishing

It seems good enough for me. I'm not a fan of Indiana Jones, but I like machinegames, also, I don't need to pay full price because I can play it on game pass.

I don't think anyone said Redfall was gping to be the next big thing.... and i say that as someone who at least had some fun playing through it.

I think it looks okay actually, although I'm Gen X and even I don't care about IJ. I think what looks off about it is the first Person animations it gives me skyrim vibes

I think the thing with the indiana Jones franchise compared to others is it's not exactly got its own unique selling point. Indie as a character is essentially an amalgamation of every pulp hero from 1930s adventure fictions. Series like tomb raider and uncharted took up the helm long ago. I think an original IP from Machine Games would do just as well and wouldn't need to be paying Disney royalties

Honestly, a pulp hero protagonist would be a massive breath of fresh air in 2024 after all the "modern audience" protagonists we've been given. My hope is that because he's a character from 30+ years ago that he'll be able to say and do some things that reflect that fact, whereas you wouldn't get that with a modern protagonist. Any sensitivity blowback they might get from hack game "journalists" could be brushed aside with "this isn't a new character, we were writing for an established character with established traits and personality" Think about it. Many of the pulp action hero's of yore would offend the Twitter crowd in numerous different ways, so the only way to safely get away with it is to use an established one.

I was born in 1996, oldest zoomer here, and the 1st and 3rd Indiana jones movies were our jam growing up. And even then I don't really care about this game since Kathleen Kennedy has ruined all Lucasfilm and Disney properties so badly

I really think it will be very good and original!

Fate of Atlantis was the first game I ever played way back in the day with my Dad. Was awesome watching him click on all the stuff and try to find the puzzles. I have it on steam and played with him on the tv through steam deck a few weeks ago just for the hell of it. Was still awesome. The art goes a long way in making it super cool.
