My fav Bee Gee’s song! ❤️They never played this song live as they stated that it was simply to complicated to perform live. Yes, Fanny was their housekeeper and they named it after her. She cried when she first heard it.

The dueling falsettos between Barry and Robin at 3:44, each one going higher...WOW! The brothers' familial vocal tones were so similar they were often singing simultaneously and you couldn't tell who it was. Of course this was not live. Too complex.

Robin sang vibrato. Those falsettos you heard were probably both Barry, mixed together when they recorded this or Barry & Maurice.

@@SweetThing - Robin can also sing falsetto. Listen to "Living together". Some is Barry and then Robin sings falsetto. I realise the video of "Fanny" is not live and was multi tracked but the voices duelling in falsetto are definitely two different people, one is Robin and one is Barry. Robin sings falsetto in "Living together". kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqjcf6Srjrmriassi=MqVsxwiCgZPHgz9Y Robin's falsetto begins at 1:03 and again @2:01 and is higher than Barry's and his vibrato is also audible when he does so which makes it obvious it's him. It's easy to compare the two. Robin had a naturally higher 5 octave voice range than Barry who had a 4 octave natural range. Anyone's NATURAL vocal range does NOT include falsetto which is a "FALSE" voice. "False" is right in the word itself. In "Fanny" you can hear Robin's falsetto is slightly higher than Barry's. Barry often used tremolo in his singing which is different from vibrato. Two completely different vocal qualities.

This magnificent song showcases everything layer by layer of what made them so great at the end of the 70s, in only one song we can hear their natural voices, those harmonies in falsetto from the three of them, those early screams in falsetto from Barry and Robin, all in all this is a masterpiece, I cannot pick my favorite song of these boys, that's absolutely impossible with so many gems, but this one here could perfectly top the list. This was from their pre-(on the verge of)-disco Soul/R&B album MAIN COURSE. This started their transformation to yet another (and their most successful) chapter in their career. Barry's falsetto was discovered at the end of "Nights on Broadway," and it was decided to continue with it on the next album (Children of the World). "Fanny" was always a favorite of mine from MAIN COURSE. Another one I've always loved is the much lesser-known and rarely played "Baby As You Turn Away." It has a similar melancholy and heartbreaking sound. Gorgeous.

All three brothers had their own unique falsetto's, baritone chest voices, and everything in-between, and were also able to slide up and down with ease!!! IMO, they are the most talented group, & exceptional singers of all time! They span over many decades, & crossed quite a few genres, so if you choose to go down this rabbit hole, you will have a terrific journey!! @@astronoybrasil7990 The Beatles used backmasking in their music, praising Satan! That's cheap to unsuspecting listeners, as the human brain will play songs backward in the sub-conscience. John Lennon got 4 in the back because of his statement that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus Christ! A short-lived band that sold a lot of records, personally I can't stand people who sold their souls to Satan for worldly fame and wealth, like Bob Dylan and many others. Peace.

Out of all the million families in the world, to be born into the one where he's my brother, what could be better." Do you know Tragedy- the making of? At the end of the video they ask Barry, if he has the lyrics and he came with them , and Andy said also in an interview that his only involvement in the song (can't remember which one) was the title, but Barry credited him as co-writer. And they also said once, that that one sings lead,who wrote it, and Barry sings lead in the most Yes I believe all 3 brothers were involved, in the songs ALL were great, talented but Barry the most in MY opinion.
@beeharbour

@nelerhabarber5602 Fair enough to have your opinion. Mine is that Barry gets a bigger share of the credit than he merits. As an example, he has described writing the songs for SNF ( not all) in a burst of creative, sleepless inspiration interrupted only by his wife bringing him tea. Trouble is, third parties observed him writing these same songs in the studio with his brothers. As one biographer observed, Barry generally had more to say in songwriting sessions but nearly everything Robin said was used in the song. That's just a difference in the way 2 people work. Barry thought out loud more or less while Robin turned ideas around in his head before saying them. There's no arguing that it was a process that worked. As far as the vocals go, more than one biography notes that Barry did indeed take leads on songs that Robin primarily wrote. He himself has said he should have let Robin have more leads. Why it should have been up to him to "let" Robin sing is not clear but plainly he thought it was so.

@@beeharbour I believe what I am hearing from themselves telling (and sitting side by side together)! Robin was an excentric person ( said also Maurice, Barry was the loving, protecting one (also from Mo). If Robin would have the same portion as Barry, he never ever would have said to him personal in an interview, That his brother is one of the greatest, he would have said NOTHING about songwriting or in a way that emphasizes that they are BOTH equally "good". Only extremely humble people with extremely low self-esteem do that, and Robin was certainly anything but "humble". Mo yes, Robin certainly no. The dear, shy Robin was a sly old man, as his biography proves. Anyway, I like all of them, but Barry and Mo are closer to me in character and I just find the victim role that Robin's hardcore fans love to attribute to him sickening, especially when they then want to paint his brother as the bad guy, wrong, sorry .

I attended university in Miami during the time they lived there but never saw them in person, except for an American Cancer Society fundraiser on Fisher's Island later on in the mid-'80s.
