Lultimate

This video covers a review of the new L Ultimate filter from Optolong. I was very impressed with the results that this filter produced. If you have a one shot color camera and want to do narrowband imaging then you need this filter. Another homerun from Optolong.

Looks nice, would love to see it compared to the Antlia ALP-T 5nm dual band. I have the ALP-T and a filter drawer on a ZS 81 with a 294MC Pro right up here in Forsyth County if you want to bring that up for a night. :)

Yes, I use a motorized equatorial mount to track the stars. It’s pretty much a must have an Astra photography.

@@AVAstronomy Alright, so what program do you use for photo stacking? I use 2 just in case, first is ASTAP and, second is Sequator. Both are great, but I just want to know your choise

I am currently using the Optolong L-Extreme with my ASI6200MC. Not sure if there would be a noticeable improvement going from 7nm to 3.5 nm.

Mark, I saw a big improvement going from the L-Extreme to the Antlia ALP-T which is 5nm. I'm guessing the dif from the Extreme to the Ultimate would be very big.

I have the l extreme filter as well and I can say from my personal experience there is a difference. The 3nm band pass has more contrast to the data and background and while it’s not a huge difference it is noticeable to me.

I did not. No halos we’re detected in my photos so that’s a huge plus as well.

Not actually a fair test as it’s made for osc so why test it on a mono camera 🤷🏻‍♂️

It clearly states on their site that it can be used for mono as well but the results will yield a monochrome image. It was more of an experiment to see how much signal could be captured.
