When i was a kid (way back in France in the country side) my parents got a pair of young collared doves from some friends..... my parents made a huge cage for them..... they had to feed them for few weeks because the doves were still babies... they became so adopted to us we could pet them and used to take food from our mouth.... then we took off the door from their cage, flying free as they please.... they never flew away and every night went back to their cage to sleep.... few month later their had babies (about 4 or 5, can't remember).... and themselves because part of our family.... those collared doves are very easy to become close to human as pets....

aw that's funny! the father of these two babies actually flew into our front yard while my dad was there and he was able to catch him, he was very tame too. i wanna be able to raise more someday, but hand feed them next time, i gotta learn how to do that

I love Doves and have two of them! The only problem is that the previous owners at the store told me they were both male. I soon found out however they were a breeding pair when I received two eggs. I am not sure what to do because I do not have the money to support more Doves and I cant get rid of them because I feel like both of them have bonded to me and their surrounding. So what do I do with the eggs and how often do they mate?

lulzbrownie sorry I didn't write your name wrong but the Bird in my profile pic was my baby Bird sadly hes not with us he was sick but I hand fed him he was very tame and I graved dough to make tortillas and jently slided it to its beak and put water in his face or with a drop thingy and he ate btw I had 7 parakeets.

sorry to hear about your baby bird, but dough and tortilla is not a good thing to give to baby birds, nor is water at that age. the baby probably died of malnutrition from the poor diet or possibly inhaled the water you tried to give it. most baby birds require animal meat/bug protein to grow up, next time use cat food soaked in water also mixed with hard boiled egg yolk and applesauce, it has to be warm and in a mushy consistency, kinda like oatmeal

Doves can live longer than cats and dogs domestically. Since this was 8 years ago and they were babies, they’re most likely still alive if they’re still under this person’s care.

These are birds, not lizards or hamsters. Many types of birds can live for a very long time, especially in captivity. A dove can outlive cats and dogs easily so these babies are probably still alive.
