My parents were volunteering doctors at Sabra and Chatila war 1982. What you said is true but it was also about religion. As what they witnessed is that the Israelis and the Christians were fighting together and killing any and all Palestinians and muslims. They used to line up the people and had a tactic where they used to ask each one of them to spell out "Tomato" in arabic and from the pronunciation of it they would know if the person was lebanese or Palestinian. Once they know that the person is Palestinian they shoot him or her on the spot.
