I feel really bad for Suith here. She was born into a role she didn’t want or ask for. And to top it off, her own father lost faith in her abilities, and tried to kill her. Just so he could have a more “perfect” heir. I’m just glad for all his complaining, Rell still loved his sister more than his desire to be king. That’s true family. :)

This has so much potential. The adventures of two dragons with completely opposite personalities. You can make number of stories that show how each of their traits compliment each other while at the same time giving them a life adventure. Suith being one who can quietly observe but not having the courage to act while Rell being quick to act but not taking time to think of the consequences. This film is a true gem. I hope you can produce more.

Even in Rell’s fantasy at the beginning, Suith isn’t a useless damsel; she uses her lightning powers to free herself at a critical moment against the knight. Deep down he always did have confidence in her abilities even before he grew up and ran away with her.

@@realdragon I wouldn't say it was sudden. He was definitely resentful, but that never meant he wanted her to die. He was forced to decide what he valued more, and he chose her life. His "change" was him desperately trying to justify keeping her alive to his father because while he wanted to be king, he never wanted to lose his sister. The second believing his sister was incapable (which was an excuse for why he should be king) was linked with her dying, he switched gears to remedy the contradiction of his desires and views.

Rell has been caring about Suith for this whole time. Sure. He was stubborn and jealous about his older sister's privileges but he's still cared. 0:40 Rell included Suith in his "fantasy playground" showing that she's matters to him. (Perhaps in storytelling wise of character introduction, but Rell still arrived to rescue Suith) 4:14 He told her sister to keep her appearance proud, he could simply left her embarrassed there. 13:06 He could rant about all the "special treatments" in his breath, but the first thing he said was about his sister. Very subtle, but that's how I see it. PS. I don't normally write YT comments but I feel like these details are too wholesome to ignore.

This short film was excellent and incredibly immersive right from the beginning to end! The characters were given great personalities and progressing arcs, especially Rell. The animation style also made the world feel unique and atmospheric! The only negative fact about this is that it wasn’t long enough, because now I want more! OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SPECTACULAR!!! By some chance this showed up for me on yt while I was taking a much needed break from college work, and this was possibly the best thing I could've seen during that break! A well crafted and excellently animated story, this is just *muah* a beautifully made short film. The characters feel quite real, it was incredibly easy to get invested in the story. Also, great job with the art style. It is difficult to create an easily animated and expressive yet natural face for a dragon, yet I think you have pulled it off excellently! I felt so sorry for poor Suith, and Rell's turnaround was both believable and completely justified. While he was totally having some childish dislike towards Su, when tested, he forgets his dislike and shows an honorable side to his character. The easier decision would have been to stand aside, and it is in his line with his young desire to be king, but he shows that he values something much deeper than getting power. It is also a good display of a morally ambiguous decision. I can see both where the king is coming from, acting for the good of the kingdom, as well as Rell, acting for the good of his sister and against unjust law. That makes this conflict all the more tragic, and tragically, in trying to end one of his children, the king looses both of them. It is such a compelling story, especially from that of a not-too-well known creator! I hope this becomes another one of the staples of indie animation. Last but not least, I found that hug at the end a bit cathartic. I think creating a story that makes someone feel an array of things like such is a sign of a great story. You've created a good thing, and I applaud it. 👏❤If it seems like I am writing a lot, that's because I have spent almost the whole day writing essays and writing is all I know how to do now lmao.

Rell and Suith will either explore the Overworld on their own while staying away from humans, if they’re still alive and prosperous 700 years later, or come across a human that eventually becomes their friend and helps guide them through this new environment to keep them away from danger. Kinda like Hiccup from HTTYD or something along those lines. I’m excited for what may happen next for these two! Would love to see them realize humans may have changed their ways in the last 700 years and had their reasons for the war. It could have been an entire misunderstanding between both sides at the time, due to some event that happened.

@blacksmithsforge My primary concept is based around the fact that 700 years is quite a long time. Basically, humanity has moved from a monarchy to a more democratic society after a series of revolutions. The seat of power seems largely indifferent to dragons, but sees the action of supporting them as a method to boost their own fame and popularity. There is still a faction of human supremacists (called the "Fanatics"), while they make up a very small amount of the political structure, they are make a significant part of the civillan populace with members having a ranging desire to make their effect known. While this would initally not be a problem, those 700 years has also brought on a whole array of changes to the art of warfare. Think somewhere in interim between WW1 and 2. Semi-automatic rifles are just starting to become a thing. As well as mechanization of the army. And the two favorite things of the Fanatics, Flamethrowers and Chemical weapons. Thus, these Fanatics can present a significant problem, since they see Dragons as animals at the best or literal demons at the worst. And when "god wills it" even the most abhorrent strategies are completely acceptable.

The Miner: The first person whom they make contact with, an honest man who makes an honest living. His ability to comfort those around him is key in dire times. The Officer: A man of the Army, a Hero of many wars, with a significant number of troops under his command. What are human horrors to Rell and Suith, are just a footnote on a long list for him. The Scholar: A man of science, and a man of logic. Inventor, Tinkerer, and Teacher, his inventions are worth far less that his advice. Yes, I though all this up, for a series that hasn't even begun yet.

The animation is simply beautiful! Despite its simplicity, it is perfect, and you can see the effort that went into making it incredibly vivid and full of details. The characters and their characteristics are very original, and the story and communication are so consistent that they give us a sense of empathy and connection. It has been a long time since I saw such an interesting animation, I got goosebumps and that hasn't happened since Sif Savery's Tales of Zale. The first episode is sensational! This is awesome! It’d be so cool if this was expanded on. The king being the villain was something I didn’t expect and I’m really glad Rel saved Suith !! ! ! Everyone who worked on this did a good job, not to mention that _really_ good animation. and imagine the twist if the humans were all gone and theres just ruins of their civilization the dragons stayed down there for nothing, and Suith and Rel would be cautious but the humans aren’t even there or another intelligent civilization took over thats extremely welcoming and kind yet dangerous

I just realized this is brand new! I wanted to say that it is an amazing job! Saw it randomly around and thought it was a 2-3 minutes short, but was really happy to find out it was much longer! It got me completely glued to screen watching the whole thing and was also happy to see it getting a really good ending point (was half expecting that it would be incompleted). This is really well made for an indie animation! A common struggle I see in indie animations is not being able to keep all the scenes interesting, with many feeling too slow or boring, losing the flow. Really happy to see that it does not happen in this one at all. It stays interesting and relevant all the way through! I don't know how much previous experience the team has but darn, you all have future in this. I believe there is a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals for making something interesting and entertaining. Thanks very much for the work! Love seeing more world settings with dragons as the protagonists!
