Doc, I haven't seen the curling of the back stretch technique before today. It looks very practical and helpful. I have lumbar stenosis that primarily affects the nerves in my left leg and foot. It's not so fun, but I call tell others the problems in my low back, like locking up have gone after strengthening my abs, obliques, legs and glutes.. From my navel down, I'm nearly as strong as I was in my thirties. I'm now 66. I encourage everyone to strengthen their core, glutes and legs. In four months I've made vast improvements. I should add that because of my new core strength, I no longer feel shock in my lumbar when my foot strikes the ground when walking. Build strength and power for a better, more comfortable life!

Came here to say thanks for the 10 second ab curls/crunches! I had minor pain after standing for about 1 hr that got better instantly after sitting. I tried strenghtening the core with planks. Big mistake, as I found out they actually overwork the hip flexors too, aggravating the APT and lumbar lordosis. Guess I'll add ab curls to my routine.

Sir, my MRI reads that I have moderate lateral stenosis. I also have a mild bulge at L5-S1. However, my symptoms are not typical of your lumbar stenosis patient. I keep reading that stenosis patients get relief when bending over when pushing a grocery cart or after sitting down. My symptoms are exacerbated by sitting down or even lying down. And yes, I do have more glute pain on one side than the other with pain and numbness down the leg , ankle, and foot. But I do have occasional numbness or pain on the opposite side of the more painful side. So, am I suffering from spinal stenosis? I am 67 years old and my pain is every day. Have been treated with epidural spine shots and pain medication. What are your thoughts regarding how my pain is manifested?

What do you suggest for spinal fusion from T4 to L 5? Experiencing all the nerve issues ; feet feel wet, foot drop, legs feeling heavy, etc.
@Nbr1spaz5 ай бұрын
I’m in a similar situation. I have scoliosis, my spine was s shaped. I had spinal fusion surgery with Harrington rods when I was 16yrs old, I’m fused from T3 to L3. I have bony central canal stenosis, most pronounced at L4-5. Symmetric paraspinal muscle atrophy. Multilevel disc height loss and spondylosis. Sciatica. Also subchondral sclerosis in my right hip due to osteoarthritis. I suffer from pain, numbness and tingling, worse on my left side. My mobility is very limited and I have lived with chronic pain for many years. However 30 years after my surgery it’s gotten to the point where the pain has me stuck in bed more frequently than ever before. Part of that is insurance not wanting to pay for treatments or scans. I don’t know what to do. They want me to go back to physical therapy but it didn’t help 6 years ago, it actually made things worse. I’m not sure how it’s going to help now when all my issues have gotten worse. Due to my fusion my range of motion is extremely limited. Any advice would be appreciated.

Doc, what do a person do who have both spinal stenosis and bulging disc?
@epmanualphysicaltherapy6 ай бұрын
Hi The_batmobile, that is a very specific situation and we do not have resources that discuss how to treat both at the same time. We have had several patients that we have treated with this but we would need to have a Virtual Consultation with you as we need more information regarding your medical history and more about how your injury occurred. We do offer Virtual Consultations. We have a sale on them right now for $125 off with the code MAYFLASH. Our Virtual Consultations are conducted similarly to a Zoom call, and we will send you a link that will automatically connect you with one of our doctors. This consultation will allow us to gain a better understanding of your condition, discuss your medical history, and provide personalized guidance tailored to your needs. Once you have purchased the Virtual Consultation, we recommend sending us an email with your questions, any records you would like to discuss, and a brief description of your medical history at least 24 hours before your appointment. This will help us prepare and ensure we can address all your concerns during the session. Please refrain from sending this information before purchasing for security purposes. After your Virtual Consultation, you will receive a recording of the session, and you will have 90 days from the date of the consultation to ask any follow-up questions regarding your session. You can simply email us your questions, and our doctors will get back to you at their earliest convenience. To learn more about our Virtual Consultations, including cost, please click here: www.epmanualphysicaltherapy.com/virtual-visit/ Once you purchase your consultation, our scheduling coordinator will contact you to find out the best time and date that works for your appointment. In the meantime, we have a herniated disc playlist that could help with your situation. You can check it out here: “Herniated Disc Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1mYk59Nn77n3t_dh4DeJaWVR An inversion table would also help out too: “Is an Inversion Table Helpful for Back Pain?” kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGeUeqB9hsl5iq8 We wish you all the best! Hey Daljeet! We are glad you are finding relief with this exercise. One thing to consider is that at El Paso Manual Physical Therapy we specialize in helping people avoid unnecessary injections & surgery while traditional physical therapy tends to focus on healing post-surgery. Because of this, the information we provide will be different versus traditional physical therapy advice. Also, everyone's body composition is different so what works for one person may not work for another. What's important is finding options that work for you as you know your body better than anyone. In order to find a solution you may need to try different techniques and exercises that you find beneficial. We did see your other comment, we are sorry to hear that you've been dealing with numbness when you walk. We would suggest giving walking like shown in this following video a chance - as always proceed with caution and make sure you're staying as pain-free as possible. Here's the video for you: "How To Make Walking With Back Pain Instantly Better Using A Body Length Mirror" kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3eceHaFirmAhpofeature=shared “Walking & Stairs Advice For Painful Knees, Hips, And Ankles” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1mZqQdy7MnE2Q1H_Xfgxi5zH We wish you the best! 🙌

@epmanualphysicaltherapy5 ай бұрын
Hey Barbara! It may be challenging to find therapists who follow similar methods as we do do in your area, but, you might find it helpful to visit the website of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). They have a "Find a Fellow" search feature that can assist you in locating physical therapists who have advanced training and specialization in manual therapy techniques similar to those that we practice here. Here is the link to their search tool: aaompt.org/Main/Public_Resources/Find-A-Fellow/Main/Member_Resources/Find-A-Fellow.aspx?hkey=108c9a56-f793-45e4-b3ed-cefe5d871a94 When searching for a therapist, we recommend discussing your specific condition, treatment preferences, and goals with them during your initial consultation. This will help ensure that their approach aligns with your needs and expectations. Alternatively, and what we would recommend would be a Virtual Consultations with our in person specialist! This way you'll have the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with our doctor, where he can delve into the details of your condition and provide you with tailored guidance and coaching. This personalized approach ensures that you receive the individualized support and direction you need to make informed decisions about your health. To learn more about our Virtual Consultations including cost please click here: www.epmanualphysicaltherapy.com/virtual-visit/ We hope that this was helpful! 🧡

Watched some of your videos for both back pain and knee pain and it is very clear that to get relief from these two critical and painful situations, the most important thing is to strengthen the core and glute muscles... and icing on the cake would be to follow your tip/technique of feet positioned in the slightly outward direction and shifting the body weight on to the glute muscles while walking and going up n down the stairs...have I understood it correctly?.. very much thankful n grateful to you for your simple and clear explanations...stay blessed.

Hey Mala Anand! Great question. The difference is that sponlylosis refers to the degenerative changes that happen to the spine and discs. The spine bones get bone spurs and the discs thin out. Stenosis is when the space where the nerves are gets narrowed.

Taking steps to help and heal myself after far too long of suffering pain associated with central lumbar stenosis. Beginning with these two excercises, I have a question as to what is causing mid back muscle tightness and discomfort when doing the stomach strengthening curl? Am I doing something wrong to cause this? I do find my stomach doesn't shake as noted in the video, until the 6th repetition or so, but my mid back becomes very uncomfortable. My belly is typically very soft and out of shape.

Hey Video FactorY, you need to go to emergency medical services right away and tell them about your bladder problem. Don't wait, call an ambulance if you can't drive yourself there. It's an emergency situation if you're having bladder or bowel problems!

Thank you so much, this is the best channel I have found that gives me trust and is helping me a lot. Sir, I have a question, I live in Madrid, I'm 49 and I have antherolistesis L4-5 degenerative arthrosis with stenosis. It is now 10 months since I started with severe symptoms and received 2 infiltrations. I was a yoga practitioner for 10 years and I firmly believe that was a wrong practice for me, not needed at all. I have changed my diet and my question is about the gym, and specifically about the exercise bike with backrest, can I practice this without causing myself harm? I like to make 1 hour 4/7 week because it also helps me to release the anxiety that this condition added to my life. Thank you so much for giving me this content. After all, you are giving me some hope and I started with the practices recommended daily, it is almost like learning to walk again, indeed. What I like is that you explain the reasons behind every exercise which is very helpful, and for me it makes sense and is helping me to understand the direction to move forward, so thanks a lot again, kind regards ❤

I wish he explains less, he talks like a medical school but I am a patient, not a student and when people talked so much on any subject my mind wanders, so the important part, the exercises, I am gone, my attention is gone. SORRY. HONEST.
