Great video. My 24” has 15HP and can take 1/2”” but only a fool would. It’s the older style PM. Big machine. Have a 20” but sold in feed. Good for wide boards.

Thanks for the info, I just got a 24" planer similar to this one and was wondering how everything worked. It's hard to find this type of info.

Yes, nobody talks about the real guts of machines, and there’s no one to call if there is a problem.

Great video! I learned a few things today, and I thank you for that! I've only got a DeWalt 735 since I don't have a big shop yet for a full-size, but I definitely picked up on a couple things to look for once we build and I upgrade the planer.

Once again Robert you have taught us some valuable info on equipment that the manufacturer does not share at point of sale. Thank you.

Question?.. are you running those boards straight off the wood-mizer mill through that planer or Kiln drying them first.. thank you for your response
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama Жыл бұрын
Kiln dried.

Any suggestions on price to S4S my boards a customer is buying?
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama Жыл бұрын
$1 per bdft at least.

That is a nice planer. Thanks for the explanation of the features on your Powermatic. The segmented roller and bed rollers are two features that would be so welcome for the short boards. I have a Woodmaster 725 and did upgrade to a helical head. Big difference. So do you slow the feed rate for oaks, Ash and sycamore?
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama Жыл бұрын
Thanks, it just depends on the the width and depth of cut. Generally, we just let it eat.

Can you elaborate on rotating the knives 180 not 90? This might explain why I have lines after rotating my knives 90 as the owners manual shows (all 98 of them #*%” it !)
@HobbyHardwoodAlabama Жыл бұрын
Rotating 90 will put a star corner on one side and a dull corner on the other. So it will cause streaks. Rotating 180 will put two share corners into the wood. Then then next rotation to 90 will put two dull corners in the wood.
